Jerrod Hull said the one week delay was worth it as he claimed the $2000 winner check over a tough field of twenty three other O’Reilly Midwest All Star Sprints at Quincy Raceways on Sunday night, June 1. Hull took the lead of the thirty lap main event on the third circuit and held off Danny Smith through several restart to take the win. Smith challenged on several occasions but never had enough to take the lead and had to settle for the second spot followed by Brian Brown in third, John Pate in fourth and Ryan Bunton in fifth. Matt Harms, Pate and Hull all took heat race wins while Tiffany Wyzard claimed her first ever Midwest All Star Fast Dash Win.

Matt Bailey started on the front row of the Budweiser IMCA Late Model main event and looked like he might just have enough to claim his first feature win of the season but it just wasn’t to be as too many caution flags allowed the field to close up the big lead that the young Bailey had managed to create. Bailey led for the first twenty six laps but Mark Burgtorf found the top side to his liking and worked his way to front to challenge Bailey for the lead and took over on the twenty seventh lap. Burgtorf pulled to win followed by Bailey in second, Denny Woodworth in third, Jason Perry in fourth and Billy Genenbacher in fifth. Bailey, Burgtorf and Genenbacher all took heat race wins with Burgtorf making it a clean sweep for the night as he claimed the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash. Jason Perry now holds a slim one point lead in the points chase over Justin Reed, 143 to 142.

Michael Long continued his dominance in the Miller Lite Modified division as he scored his sixth feature event win in a row. Long started the main event in the sixth row and worked his way past early leader Jared Schlipman on the eighth lap and survived several restarts to claim the win over Robbie Reed in second, Steven DeLonjay in third, David Wietholder in fourth and Bob Woodrow in fifth. Wyatt Lantz, Roger Moser, Steven DeLonjay and Schlipman were the heat race winners while Terry Wilson won the B-Main. Long also took the win in the Advance Trading Trophy Dash. Long now leads Steven DeLonjay 171 to 143 in the points battle.

The Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car main event was another battle royal as Steve Steinkuhler took his first win of the year in the new division. Steinkuhler held off the furious charges of Jake Wenig over the first two thirds of the twenty five lapper and then had to hold off a very determined John Oliver Jr. until the checkered flag fell. Oliver settled for second with Wenig in third, Jason Cook in fourth and Chris Wibbell in fifth. Cook and Oliver were the heat race winners. Wibbell and Oliver are now tied for the points lead at 221 followed by Steinkuhler with 212.

Up next at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, June 8 will be Poage Auto Plaza Night at the Races. Pit Gates open at 4 with Hot Laps at 6 and Racing at 6:30pm.
