It is with deep sadness that I report the death of my father Jim Plocher this morning. He was one of the founding fathers of the Highland Race Track back in the SARA Racing days. He served as the first president of the track, the track welder and could fix just about anything. He loved racing and we raced the 252 car for many years at the track until my brothers started in quarter midgets.

Visitation will be Monday May 6th 4 to 7 pm at Spengel Boulanger Funeral Home

Another oldtimer gone from an era that produced some of the best STOCK CAR RACING on any dirt track! These were the TRUE HEROS of a great sport that has really gone down hill in past years. We will NEVER see racing like that EVER gain! RIP JIM!

:DTo the top!:D

I actually had him autograph it and another several months before he passed away. One of my treasured pjotos

Oops,I mean the other guy with glasses?..Is that Donnie Crouch?..Also, who is the older guy with glasses behind him,I've seen him at Highland years ago...:)

The tall guy with glasses and the hat is Delmar Carillion. He was my great uncle and used to own cars for my uncle Jerry Schmitt in the 70's. He also was a pitman for Jerry in the 80's when Jerry got back into racing.

Jim gave us 2 quarter midget engines back in 1977 and that's how we got into running quarter midgets. He was a great help to us and a great guy. RIP Jim.

Sorry to hear this-Jim was a great man in the early racing community at Highland Speedway and will not be forgotten-RIP JIM

I remember Jim! Thoughts and prayers to you and the family. Was a great guy who loved the races

So sorry to hear, Jim lived across the street from my parents while I was growing up and Mrs. Plocher was the sweetest woman around. Our prayers go to your family. I have to say that picture of him reminds me of Mike.
Rest In Piece old timer

I think this Mr. Jim Plocher is the same guy that used to be the president and play Santa for SIQMA (Southern Illinois Quarter Midget Assoc.) in the 80s when I raced 1/4 midgets. He had a son that raced named Mike. If so, RIP Mr. Plocher you will be missed.
