(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) One lone event was on the racing calendar for the Mars Racing team last weekend, as they rolled into Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Friday evening, August 25 for the annual running of the 'George Scheffler Memorial.' The Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series tour presided over the single-day shootout and a $9,000 winner's check was on the line.
Jimmy Mars placed third in his loaded heat race and later rolled off from the inside of the sixth row in the 50-lap headliner. With passing at a premium throughout the distance, Jimmy was still able to steer past five racecars en route to a sixth place showing behind only winner Scott James, Billy Drake, Paul Parker, Chris Simpson, and Chad Simpson. Next up for the #28 team will be the 45th edition of the 'Silver 1000,' which will be held later this evening, August 31, at Proctor Speedway in Proctor, Minnesota. The WISSOTA Late Model special will be the only event that Jimmy will enter over the Labor Day holiday weekend and it boasts a $2,750 top prize. The Mars Racing team will be hard at work the rest of the weekend preparing their Super Late Model for the upcoming 'World 100' at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, which will be held from September 7-9.
