A late afternoon storm front and oppressing heat held down the car count at the Malden Speedway Friday night, but the racing was still exciting. Joey Mack out dueled Todd Hall to win his third Late Model feature of the 2005 season. Greg King returned to victory lane for the second time in the Modified class. Also picking up checkered flags were Tony Anglin in Hobby Stock, Jeff Beeson in Street Stock, Justin McBroom in E-Mods, and the team of Gene Kelley and Adam Brown won in Cruisers.

The small field of Late Models quickly turned into a two-car race for the checkered flag. Todd Hall grabbed the lead from the outset and held it throughout the first half of the race. By lap nine Joey Mack, who had hounded Hall the whole way, closed to Hall's bumper looking for a chance to pass. A lap later, Mack came flying out of turn four and out ran Hall down the front straight to take the lead. Mack pulled to a two second lead by lap 13, but Hall closed the gap in the latter part of the race. Hall could not make a passing attempt and had to settle for second behind Mack. Bronson Berry took third in his first trip to the speedway this year. Scott Bell and John Stephens rounded out the top five. Mack also won the heat race.

The leaders encountered lapped traffic on lap 10 that closed the gap, but Beeson held on for the win.
