Belleville, IL; Joey Montgomery claimed victory in the 30 lap Shannon Finley Memorial at Belle-Clair Speedway Sunday Night.

Mike Hess started on the pole and jumped out to an early lead pursued by outside fron row starter Greg Lueckert, Aaron Andruskevitch, and Joey Montgomery. Hess and Lueckert exchanged slide jobs and the lead until a caution on lap six for Lueckert who restarted at the tail.

The red flag was waved for Andruskevitch on lap seven and again on lap eight for Hud Cone's flip in turn one.

When racing resumed Hess battled Montgomery until a lap twenty slide job in turn three would put Montgomery in the lead for good. A great battle between Hess, Jeff Davis, Brett Anderson, Donnie Lehmann, and Steve Knepper raged on behind the leader.

At the finish it was Montgomery over Davis with Hess, Anderson and Knepper rounding out the top five.

Oklahoma's Kevin Bayer started on the pole and was able to fend off the charges of Vienna, Illinois' Dereck King and Gary Bouhl to win the 600cc micro sprint feature.

The next Gateway midget event at Belle-Clair will be the 14th Annual Arnie Knepper Memorial Wednesday August 10th
