Race Notes:

Sunday: Just prior to the start of the 50-lap feature event, promoter Royal Jones announced that the event would pay $15,000 to win not the advertised $10,000 to win! This added some additional pressure to the 24 drivers that had locked themselves into the feature event.

Pole sitter Jeremy Payne jumped to the race lead at the drop of the green flag with team mate Terry Phillips in tow. Third starting Johnny Scott moved quickly to second with amazing racing action taking place throughout the field. Payne lead the first sixteen laps before exchanging slide job after slide job with Scott lap after lap during the mid-point of the event. Scott stole the lead on lap 18 and looked to drive off, but Payne hung right there and snatched the lead back on lap 28. Scott and Payne battled side by side for the next two laps until the lone caution flew for a stalling Jack Sullivan. On the restart, Scott pulled away and lead the remaining twenty laps without much pressure as Payne, Phillips, Randy Timms and Rodney Sanders were in a great battle just behind the leader. Scott raced uncontested the final circuits to the largest payday of his career and to his second Fall Nationals title. Payne ran second with Sanders third. Timms nipped Phillips at the line for fourth in front of the packed house. Hermantown, Minnesota racer Darrell Nelson won the Sunoco Race Fuels Long Tow award after towing 1,500 miles to compete in this event. Monte Bolton’s thirteenth place finish capped of f a night where the Lubbock, Texas racer passed a total of 30 cars combined in his last chance race, c-main, b-main and a-main.

Springfield, Missouri racer Jason Rayle won the $1,250 to win Legends of the Southwest feature. Las Cruces, New Mexico racer Vanessa Robinson won the $500 to win Street Stock feature. Ruidoso, New Mexico racer Brent Dietz won the $950 to win Southwest Super Truck feature
