DANVILLE, IL - Josh Ferguson was the smoothest and rode the low groove to victory in the regular portion of the Sunday night racing at VCS.

The feature event started with polesitter Chuck Haga leading the first lap with Chad Kinder and Ferguson battling for the third position behind him. Kinder would take the spot, putting Ferguson to fourth. The first caution would fly on lap three for the cars of Roger Cary, Jeff Bland Jr., and Arby Burton in turn one. Burton would be the only car to retire, as Bland and Cary continued on. When racing resumed, Richie Hedrick moved to the lead as he got around Haga coming out of turn four on lap 5. Behind them, Kinder would jump the banking in turn four and lose six positions in the process. That moved Ferguson up to the second spot, Scott Bull up to third, and Don Kiger to fourth. Kiger would then have to contend with Haga, who took the fourth spot away from him. Back up front, Ferguson would dive underneath Hedrick for the lead. Hedrick would then lose the second position to Bull, who drove under him on the lowside coming out of turn four on lap 10.

Hedrick would then lose the third position, as Kiger would take it away on lap 11. Just four laps later, Hedrick would return the favor on Kiger, taking third back. The second caution of the race would fly on lap 17 for Cary in turn one. On the restart, a three wide battle for the second position would take place between Bull, Kiger, and Hedrick. Kiger would win that battle, sending Bull to third, and Hedrick to fourth. Hedrick would then be passed by Haga coming down the backstretch on lap 20 for the fourth spot. Disaster would strike Bull while running third, as he would jump the banking in turn four, losing several positions. Hedrick would then start his move back towards the front, getting around Haga for the third spot. Haga would then have Danny Schwartz to worry about, as Schwartz got around him for fourth. As Ferguson took the white flag, Hedrick moved in on Kiger for the runner up spot. At the checkers, Ferguson would cross first. Following him was Hedrick, who got by Kiger at the line, Schwartz, and Kinder rounded out the top five.
