BONEY BEATS CMS’ BEST, CAMPBELL’S COURSE COLLECTS COINS DURING “MILLER LITE RACE NIGHT #1”!

‘Groom’ Coyne, Another Potter Count As 8 Different Winners In Two Weeks!

Warrensburg, Missouri

After finishing third in the main ‘A’ feature during the second night of USMTS Modified competition in Godfrey, Illinois the past two days, traveling ‘Mighty Modified’ ace Justin ‘bad to the bone’ Boney, now listed as being from LaMars, Iowa instead of DeSoto, Kansas, made a stop Saturday night at one of his favorite, frequent stomping grounds, Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, to capture the 25 lap feature event and a $700 paycheck. Now driving the ‘company car’ for Harris Racing chassis, and also working for his car owner every day at the newly listed address, Boney is also a past winner of three of CMS’ heritage-filled ‘Big Ones’. Boney bested 6-time, CMS “Mighty Modified’ champ “Fast” Richard Layne, who finished second. His lead length at the checkers was the longest recorded at the 1/3rd mile, high-banked clay oval in several years.

With thoughts of his being married tomorrow (Sunday) to his soon to be betrothed Brandi, Blue Springs’ Kevin’ kid’ Coyne put those thoughts aside just long enough to top a quality field of Limited Late Models. It was his first, divisional win this season.

Last week it was Kenny Potter, this week Kelly Potter who captured the top spot in the WOFC, 15 lap sprint car main. Last season Kelly, who finished second in umpteenth features, couldn’t find a win until the year’s last night of competition. This year, he arrived in victory lane much sooner. Both Potters are cousins to one another.

The feature was a super-thriller in the Street Stocks as 15-time, CMS streeter champ John ‘the boomer’ Brooks from Warrensburg and Sedalia’s Clayton Campbell went through a long back and forth, crossover swap-fest for the lead and final lap win for Campbell. The weekend of racing for the young flyer yielded a big smile as he had won a feature event the night before on the half-miler in Sedalia.

‘B’ feature wins went to Rick Hayes in the Street Stocks and Terry ‘the terminator’ Schultz from Sedalia in the Modified run. In his usual style, Schultz also whizzed by car after car all the way from the back to fifth in the 24 car main event.

This coming Saturday’s race card is highlighted as the 7th Annual “RSC Rental Service Street Stock Bash”. The wild and wooly division will run extra laps, for extra dollars. Gates will open again at 5 pm, hot laps at 7 with the first race off the line at 7:30 pm.

For up-to-the-minute racin’ information, call the CMS “Track Report” at 660.747.2166 or log-in at: www.centralmissourispeedway.com .

A fully detailed, extended story along with photos will be released Sunday evening.
