K. Wallace's Mod?

dirt tracks 4 ever
He's got an Impressive Chassis,But who supplies/builds the Toyota powerplants?? Just wondering.

At the moment, he is still running Mullins Racing Engines GM powerplants...

I forget the name of the Toyota builder, but once he is running a Toyota engine, they will be available for purchase by anyone to run.

I'm not quite sure how a Toyota V8 engine fits the "All engines used in competition must be able to be used in a conventional passenger car without alteration" rule in the UMP modified rules. What car does it fit? What conventional Toyota passenger car ever cam with a V8 of this configuration?

Don't know the answer to that. But I do know they will be bolted in Modifieds pretty soon!

I know for a fact that he has the Toyota engine already and has ran it at least once. I believe it was at Clay.County. Not sure if he's switched back to the old powerplant since then. But he was talking about his modified being the only one in the nation with Toyota power.

From twitter a few weeks ago.

"@TSMmotorsports:...The one and only right now...... @Kenny_Wallace are you a toyota "factory" driver as far as the dirt program goes??"

Another tweet.

"@newstew2011:....You seen the 1st Toyota Dirt Mod motor EVER :) ......... @Kenny_Wallace saw you race today in Flora! #awesome"

One more.

"@MHenderson17:......YES...... @Kenny_Wallace distributor up front. Not the GM motor anymore. Toyota??"

"@roadie6:....YES..... @Kenny_Wallace Great job. Is that a Toyota engine?"

"@swtour05:.....YES..... @Kenny_Wallace It's the TOYOTA??"

Started 3rd in A-Main finished 2nd, Brian Shaw Wins! We had @toyotaracing motor in for 1st time ever, we have work to do, but eXcited.

He did run one at Clay County a couple of weeks ago, but it was just a standard NASCAR Truck engine and not the one meant for dirt racing. Mainly was using it to test all of the other components needed to run a Toyota. It is still a month or so away from being ready for weekly racing.

He was definitely was running the Mullins GM motor last night as I was snooping under the hood and he came over and took the hood off and went into the explanation on the Toyota program.

And this he posted 20 days ago.

@timmccubbins88 My Toyota Motor Dirt car is being chassis dyno tomorrow, I am excited, Its almost ready, We will track test it next!

It's going to be very interesting to see how this all plays out but it just seems that it might open the door to a lot of true specialty racing engine that you never had before. I don't know what the specs of the Toyota racing engine are but let's just say down the road some outfit comes out with a 5 inch bore spacing V8 which can make 500 cid with an 8 inch deck height. Something like that could make 200 more horsepower than anything you're seeing right now. Seems to be beyond the spirit of the class in many ways whereas now you're only seeing engines that are based on modified production designs.

But the lexus motor wasn an all aluminum motor if the specs i just looked up was correct. Ive worked on lexus's before and from what ive seen......all aluminum engine blocks. Did they make a steel block lexus motor?

.) There may be specific engine rules issued for each region of North America that deviate from the standard UMP Modified Engine rules included herein.
This is per UMP's website pertaining to the modified rules. Maybe this is how it will become legal?

Way back when I had a ump mod and after getting smoked on the mile. I seriously considered dropping in my old Allied 427 or building the tall deck 427 I had that could easily go to 540 inches. But with the suspensions we had back then (read traction) and the thought of loosing it to the $350 claim , well you know the end to that story.

Toyota has drivin the cost of racing up in every form of motorsports that it has competed in. This will be no different. The gap between the $$$ guys and the average racer will get wider.
