Keeton, Yates, and Wilson Take StormPay.com WRS Regional Titles

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS, Logan Yates of Delta, MS, and Frank Wilson of Milton, FL have been crowned the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Regional Champions at the completion of the 27-week competition. Along with the three Regional Champions, 117 other drivers will receive an invitation to the StormPay.com WRS National Championship Race.

The top six point drivers in each of the three StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Regions and the top six point drivers, excluding the top six Regional drivers, at each StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series-sanctioned track will receive an invitation to the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series National Championship Race at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS on November 23.

In addition to the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series National Championship Race, a special 18-car event for the top six drivers in the three respective Regions, and a special race for the 17 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Champions will also be held at Columbus Speedway on November 23. StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series officials will be releasing details on these events in the coming days.

The top six drivers in each of the three StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Regions will receive their Regional Point Fund Awards at the Annual StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series Awards Banquet in Tampa, FL in December. Each StormPay.com WRS Regional Champion will receive a new chassis, and a GM Performance 604 Crate Engine.

Keeton has won his second straight StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region Championship with 786 points based on his top 16 finishes in 25 starts. Keeton had a WRS leading 12 wins during the 27-week season, and was the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Champion at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS for the second straight season.

To make the StormPay.com WRS West Region a family affair, Brandon Keeton of Toomsuba, MS finishes as the West Region Runner-Up to his father in the final points chase. Brandon Keeton had 726 points based on his top 16 finishes in 19 starts with two wins in his Rookie season of dirt late model racing.

Steve Godsey of Bedford, IN will take the third spot in the StormPay.com WRS West Region with 724 points based on his top 16 finishes in 18 starts with three wins. Terry Mosley of Gilbertown, AL will finish in the top four of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region for the second straight year. Mosley finished fourth with 708 points based on his top 16 finishes in 17 starts with four wins.

Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS was fifth in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region with 701 points based on his top 16 finishes in 17 starts. The Columbus Speedway StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Champion Jamie Pickard of Columbus, MS rounds out the top six in the West Region with 699 points in 16 starts and five wins in West Region competition.

Yates raced to nine wins and the Eastaboga, AL Talladega Short Track StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Championship on his way to the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region Championship. Yates posted 780 points based on his top 16 finishes in 19 starts.

Yates accomplished all of this with a 350 horsepower GM Performance steel-head 602 Crate Engine taking the 150-pound weight break for the 50 horsepower disadvantage to the aluminum-head 604 engine.

Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL is the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region Runner-Up with 717 points based on his top 16 finishes in 28 starts and two wins. Chad Wallace of LaGrange, GA took the third spot and the Penton (AL) Raceway StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Championship with 702 points based on his top 16 finishes in 24 starts, and nine wins.

Curtis Cline of Douglasville, GA finished fourth in the StormPay.com WRS East Region points with 689 points based on his top 16 finishes in 19 starts and four wins. Adam Martin of Talladega, AL was fifth in the final East Region standings with 676 points based on his top 16 finishes in 19 starts with two wins, and Dustin Stewart of Eastaboga, AL rounds out the top six in the East Region with 671 points based on his top 16 finishes in 20 starts.

Wilson won the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series South Region Championship with 746 points based on his top 16 finishes in a series-leading 42 starts. The StormPay.com WRS “Ironman” had seven wins this season, and he was the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Champion at Blackman Motor Speedway in Blackman, FL, and Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.

Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL is the StormPay.com WRS South Region Runner-Up with 711 points based on his top 16 finishes in 27 starts with five wins. Donald Watson of Greenwell Springs, LA took the third spot in the South Region standings with 699 points based on his top 16 finishes in 23 starts with 11 wins.

James Ussery of Cottondale, FL made a late-season charge to end up fourth in the StormPay.com WRS South Region with 698 points based on his top 16 finishes in 17 starts with 8 wins. Two more members of the “Milton Mafia” round out the top six of the South Region points chase.

Brothers Jonathan and Joshua Joiner of Milton, FL finished fifth and sixth respectively in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series South Region. Jonathan Joiner turned in 684 points based on his top 16 finishes in 22 starts with two wins, and Joshua Joiner tallied 683 points based on his top 16 finishes in 22 starts with five wins.

In StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series action during the final weekend of the 2007 season Bryan Bernhardt of Versailles, IN picked up a pair of wins on Friday night in StormPay.com WRS West Region action at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, IN. The victories were the second and third series wins of the season for Bernhardt.

Brandon Keeton knew Godsey had a pair of fourths on Friday night at TCRP, and he knew what he had to do on Saturday morning when he left his shop for Monticello Speedway in Monticello, AR. He needed either a win or a second-place finish. The 20-year-old Keeton took the win at Monticello Speedway to make it a father-son one-two finish in the West Region points.

Jonathan Chapman of Eastaboga, AL picked up his second StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Jay Blair of Angie, LA chalked up his sixth StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series South Region win of the season on Saturday night in double-points action at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS. The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Championship contender has won every WRS South Region event he has entered this season.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS racked up his fourth South Region win of the season on Saturday night at A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA, and Larry Cifra Jr. of Moss Point, MS took win number six of the season on Saturday night at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL. Joshua Joiner took his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at Southern Speedway in Milton, FL.
