Keifer - fetter crash

i'd like to hear both drivers side of the story!!! but no matter what happened just be thankful Chris wasn't seriously injured what that type of impact

I would too and yes im really grateful chris was ok. Im sure sore as heck today but ok. My posts and feelings on the deal are just that my own from seeing what i say and the history behind one side of the deal.

Ok here we go. First off I want to thank my son and Billy Laycock for checking on me while I was still in the car.I also want to thank all he other fans and crews and drivers for their well wishes and concern. The racing community really is a good one and I'm glad I'm here to experiance that, not everybody gets to do that. I want to let everybody know I'm ok. Stiff and sore but like I tell my customers that come in all upset when their street cars are damaged if your still walking and talking it's a good day so I'm having a good day.
I really wish there was video because honestly I can't really say what happened. What I will say is that I went down the backchute turned the car into 3 and just as I picked the throttle up I got hit hard in the drivers door and turned. I never saw him or heard him. I said to myself I can't beleive I got run into in hotlaps. I never lost conciousness. I saw the whole thing from in the car so I have no doubt about having no memory of anything that transpired. I sat in the car for a bit just to rethink about what happened and what caused it. First question I asked was who did it.I was told Dewayne. So I get out of the car and look for Dewayne. I don't see him anywhere. Figured he would at least ackknowledge the fact that he DESTROYED my race car in HOT LAPS! So after my ride back to the pits I went down to talk to him, even though I felt it should have been the other way around. I asked him what happened and why he ran into me. His comment was I didn't mean to but I was inside of you going into the corner. I've had someone inside of me going into the corner and have had contact but that type of impact doesn't turn your car up the race track and into the wall. Again I never saw him or heard him. Again it was HOT LAPS, just the time to feel everything out. Last time I remember there is no money or points for winning hot laps. I just hope that out of all of this that all of us drivers think a little bit more about the guys we race with, whether you like them or not and race clean and smart. Nobody needs to get hurt doing this. Some people have asked if we had some kind of beef or something. If we did I didn't know about it. I just think he made a really bad mistake in my opinion and I'm the one payng the price for it. The thing that disturbed me the most is he is called the disciple. He never apologized to me, didn't seem to care. That hurt. I wouldn't wish what happened to me on my worst enemy.
On a good note Ed from R2C air filters saw pictures of the accident and saw his air cleaner rolling across the race track and has committed to sending me a replacement. I know it won't replace the other $11,900.00 of damaged parts and chassis but it's a start.
So this is my side and I welcome any feedback.

You handled it a lot better then I would of thats for sure, i'd put a smack down so bad on keifer that by the time he got out of the hospital he could of raced his number zero in the vintage class....like others said if I were keifer I would of been so a shamed that I couldnt face the guys in the pits and my crap would of been FOR SALE !......Just Saying

I really hope this bad exsperience doesnt stop you from rebuilding and Racing , good luck and thanks for being a class act Racer !

At pevely last night they did past the helmet for special olympics and when that jerk came around with his helmet I ask him if he was collecting to fix your car..:D He didnt know what to say and just smiled. I gave my money to someone else

What happened was yea he was on the inside of you. But you let off to turn your car and he did not. He flat nailed you like you were sitting still. I still dont get it. Noone and i mean noone was driving flat out since the track was super heavy and only one person had an issue with it. I like mudfaces post and i agree as i said as well...my stuff would be for sale the next day if i pulled a stunt like that. Just my opinion and its just 1 out there.
Years ago the drivers would get together and handle these type of situations man to man. Heck Bob Wente would make the 2 drivers involved talk while he sat there and noone else was invited. Noone left till questions were answered and hands were shook. Heck he would even follow 2 drivers involved in a deal right to their pits and make them hash it out on the spot!

Keifer needs to man up and give his side of the story. What bothers me is he didn't even apologize. I have zero respect for him.

I'm still a little lost for words about the whole deal but I would like to thank Rick Salter and Billy Laycock for checking on my dad. Also want to thank all the fans and drivers that came by to make sure my dad was ok and have gave him support on the whole deal. Friday was already a nerve racking day, I was racing for a championship and after I seen my dads wreck I could hardly get myself in the car. I was very happy that my dad was ok but the whole deal should have never happened, it was totally uncalled for and for nothing to happen to dewayne didn't put my mind at ease. I went on to win the championship and should be happy about it but all I really can think about is my dads wreck and how someone could get away with something like that. Still upset about the whole deal and hope that action will be taken for the actions of dewayne. Very glad my dad is ok and that's the main thing but something needs to happen.

Thanks everyone for your support,
Derek Fetter

Ya send his *** down the road next year to race cause as a fan I hate seeing him week in week out tear **** up like he don't care!!! Fck him and that's just why he did win the championship!!!

What ashame, we were told by owner of track to leave, accused us of going on track , with Red flag conditions, cause we touched the car! Didn,t happen officials told us we could go look. Something needs to be done with this kind of racing, makes me want to spend money on race car for someone to destroy it and NOTHING is done. Does someone have to DIE to get someone to wake up!
