SEDALIA, MO (April 16) – Steve Kinser inherited first place when Craig Dollansky crashed and held off early leader Shane Stewart to win Friday’s World of Outlaws Sprint Series “A” Feature at Sedalia’s State Fair Speedway.
Dollansky, who passed Stewart for the lead late in the 20th lap, lost the lead when he collided with “B” Feature winner Jason Johnson three laps later. “The King of the Outlaws” restarted ahead of the 24-car field and beat Stewart under the checkered flag by eight car-lengths.
“I found a little rubber there on the bottom in (turns) one and two and, actually, a little bit on the bottom in three and four, but I didn’t want to show it until I could get a run on those guys,” Kinser said. “Craig was running pretty good, but I think I would have gotten by him if he hadn’t found the rubber. This Quaker State car has been strong right out of the box this year, and we just keep finding a way to get the job done.”
The victory, Kinser’s fifth of the season, gave him a 97-point advantage over second-place Danny Lasoski in the World of Outlaws Sprint Series standings. The $10,000 victory was Kinser’s fourth at Sedalia’s State Fair Speedway and the 502nd of his incomparable career.
“The King of the Outlaws,” the fourth-fastest qualifier in the 29-car field, finished fourth in the Third Heat Race. He earned the privilege of starting the 25-lap main event outside the second row by following Stewart across the finish line in the Second Dash Race.
Stewart drove the #4M Ol’ Glory Maxim past pole-sitter Kraig Kinser as the green flag fell in the World of Outlaws Sprint Series’ eighth main event of the season. Dollansky passed Kraig with an inside move between the third and fourth corners late in the opening lap.
Kinser exchanged fifth place with Joey Saldana and Lasoski during the first five laps. Billy Alley, making his World of Outlaws Sprint Series debut, spun in turn one to bring out the caution flag early in the sixth lap.
“The King of the Outlaws” steered his #11 Quaker State Maxim to the lowest point in the second corner to pass “The Dude” for fourth place early in lap seven.
Mechanical problems in the #75 VKCC Motorsports car forced Jesse Hockett to stop in turn four late in the 11th lap. Kinser passed his son, Kraig, for third place with an inside move between the first and second corners as the green flag replaced the yellow.
First Heat Race winner Brian Paulus stopped in turn four with a blown engine the next time around. Jason Meyers had the #14 Elite Landscaping Maxim on the move after the race resumed, passing Saldana, Lasoski and Kraig Kinser during the next five laps to take over fourth place.
Dollansky drove the #7 VMAC Maxim past Stewart between the third and fourth corners to take the lead late in lap 20. Kinser used a similar move to pass Stewart between turns one and two several seconds later.

Meyers, who started inside the fifth row, finished in third place, while Saldana recorded his third straight top-five feature finish since joining the Volcano Joe’s Coffee team 10 days before. Kraig Kinser finished in fifth place, ahead of Paul McMahan, Lasoski, Tim Shaffer, Second Heat Race winner Donny Schatz and Daryn Pittman.
McMahan and Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year leader Kraig Kinser headed to Saturday’s I-55 Raceway event tied for fourth place in the point standings. Stewart climbed from 18th to 15th in the standings with his fourth top-five finish of the season.
Shaffer drove the #83 Beef Packers Eagle past 12 cars to finish in eighth place. Brooke Tatnell raced into 14th place from inside the 11th row.
Toni Lutar paced the qualifying session with a 111.885-M.P.H. lap around Sedalia’s semi-banked, ½-mile oval. After a flat right rear tire took him out of the First Heat Race, Lutar finished second in the “B” Feature and 17th in the main event.
Lasoski’s car owner, 2002 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart, won Sedalia’s 360-sprint car race for the second straight year. WoO
