With less than two weeks remaining until the first of three "Big Ones" for the 'Mighty' Modified division at Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway (CMS), the excitement is building and the track is once again expecting a full field of competitors from all over the Midwest this Saturday night, May 19th for KMMO FM 102.9 Radio Race Night. So far this season cars have been pouring into the gates at CMS as the word has spread that promoters Earl and Susan Walls have reestablished the track as the premier Saturday night racing establishment to watch the best roster of drivers sling the dirt! The local "heavy hitters" have all had CMS on their racing schedules in the last few weeks right alongside the most competitive roster of weekly modified racers anywhere in the country. Last week over 100 cars once again checked in among the four racing divisions at the track; the 'Mighty' Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks and B-Modifieds. This Saturday is shaping up to be another fantastic night of racing as some mid-week moisture fell yesterday and according to the forecast cooler temps are on the horizon. The lightning quick and smooth surface at the CMS high banks will once again provide the fiercest and most competitive racing in the greater Kansas City area. Make no mistake about it, Earl and Susan Walls have returned CMS to its esteemed position at the top of the list of well-respected racing operations anywhere in the U.S.

In the 'Mighty' Modifieds, the premier division at the track, last week's surprise feature winner was Travis Johnson, who won his first feature in only two years of modified racing. He will have to once again be on his "A" game if he wants to repeat though as in recent weeks a virtual who's who of greater Kansas City-are modified drivers have been on hand trying to grab the checkers and $1,000 weekly first-place payout. Such standout drivers as Terry Schultz, Dave Meyer, Tom Charles, Tim Karrick, Justin and Dustin Boney, Joe Walker (a 2-time winner already), Jim Moody, Aaron Marrant, Charlie Ebert, Donnie Dannar, Lee Hibner, James McMillin, Chad Staus, Matt Johnson, Richard Layne, Dean Wille, Jake Richards, Chad Lyle, Kyle Westerhold, Jesse Wheeler, Kevin Sloan, and Mike Ryun have all competed at the track. Several of these drivers are trying to register their second appearances of the year at the speedway prior to the May 26th $2,000-to-win, 40-lap feature event so they don't have to pay the $100 entry fee. All modified drivers competing at least twice PRIOR to the May 26th big-money race will not be required to pay the entry fee; all others who have not competed at least twice PRIOR to the 26th will have to pay the entry fee. In years past, fans at CMS have also seen the likes of many of the traveling "heavy hitters" in the modified ranks stop in and try to steal the locals' thunder. Who will take home the first big-money check from Earl and Susan Walls in 2007 … we'll know in less than two weeks!

After three weeks of points racing, 'Smokin' Joe Walker leads defending track champion Aaron Marrant, Richard Layne, Jim Moody and Terry Schultz in the 'Mighty' Modifieds. In the Late Models, last week's feature winner Steven Clancy holds a slim lead over Jon Binning, Brett Rollert, Jason Estes and David Angell. Brian Johnson, who has won two features out of three in the Street Stocks, leads Chad Eickleberry, Tammy Korff, Brett Nail and Dale Atkinson. In the B-mods, three-for-three feature winner Scotty Martin leads the field ahead of Phillip Bradshaw, Michael Mullins, Ethan Isaacs and Bubba Kline.
