Knepper Indy question

Watching Kick Kenpper at Belle-Clare Speedway last weekend got me to thinking. Knowing that Arnie Kenpper ran the Indy 500. I looked in a old book The Indianapolis 500 by Jack C. Fox, published in 1967. It lists Arnie racing in 1965, 66, but also lists a Ray Knepper not qualifying in 1951 in a Bardahl sponsored car. And a Billy Knipper (spelled with an i) racing at Indy in 1911 thru 1914 with a Benz, Stutz, Henderson and Keeton. Any relation to the local Kenpper clan?

Ray Knepper was an uncle of Arnie Knepper who was a cousin to Steve and Nick Knepper.
Billy Knipper was not related although a family historian claims that a a couple members of the original Knepper family that came to the United States from Europe misspelled the last name and that the Knipper family and the Knepper family and ther Knapper family all came from the same area in Germany.
