Even though Central Missouri was locked in to a cold, wet winter; that did not mean that the crew at Lake Ozark Speedway (LOS) could rest on their laurels. They were busy making improvements to what is already one of the finest dirt tracks in the country.

One of the main concerns at Lake Ozark Speedway is safety. For the 2005 racing season, LOS has purchased two safety-rescue vehicles fitted with fire fighting and extrication equipment. There has also been additional training for the fire-rescue team.

Last year the racers wanted a place in the pits to watch the races. This year they will be rewarded with a new grandstand located on the backstretch. This will allow seating for up to 1000 people and room for the race teams to park their quads. In addition, a separate entrance has been built in the rear of the pits, along with a permanent pit side concession stand. Air conditioning has also been installed for the main grandstand concession workers.

LOS also recruited the help of “Dr. Dirt” a renowned chemist who analyzes the dirt from the top tracks across the country. He then makes recommendations on how to improve the racing surface. After analyzing the LOS dirt, 25 tons of organic matter and gypsum were added to the soil. This will aid in keeping the surface more consistent.

The promotion team was also busy during the off season securing series sponsorship for each class. We would like to welcome them into the LOS family. Lake Ozark Speedway encourages you to support them as much as possible.

Hy-Vee Grocers will be the sponsor for the 360 Winged Sprints. Hy-Vee grocers are an employed owned grocery store chain with locations throughout the Midwest. Hy-Vee is currently opening its newest facility in Lake Ozark.

BigShot BigSurf will be the sponsor for the Modifieds. BigSurf Waterpark and BigShot Amusement is a family entertainment area located minutes south of Lake Ozark Speedway.

ABC Powder Coating will be the sponsor for the Street Stocks. ABC Powder Coating is located in Sunrise Beach, Missouri. Builder's Screen and Aluminum is a sister company specializing in powder coated aluminum handrails and screened enclosures.

Hendren Salvage will be the Hobby Stock sponsor. Hendren Salvage is located in Columbia, Missouri. They specialize in recycling of all types of metals. Hendren's motto is "Recycling Makes Good Cents".

The action at Lake Ozark Speedway kicks off on Saturday, April 23rd with a test and tune session. We would like to invite everyone to come see the changes that have been made and witness the drivers test their new cars on our improved racing surface. Grandstand admission is free and pit passes are only $10.00.

The 2005 season starts on Saturday, April 30th with a regular weekly program that includes 360 Winged Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hobby Stocks.

Friday, May 6th the World of Outlaws Sprint Series will invade Central Missouri. It will be the most anticipated race in Lake Ozark Speedways short history. For the first time, LOS fans will get to see the greatest sprint car drivers in the world. The World of Outlaws is currently experiencing the closest point’s battle in many years with only 4 points separating Steve Kinser and Craig Dollansky for the top spot. Also in attendance will be, Danny Lasoski, Donnie Schatz, Kraig Kinser, Joey Saldana, Tim Keading, Jason Meyers, Daryn Pittman, Terry McCarl, Tim Shaffer, Paul McMahan, Shane Stewart, Brooke Tatnell, Jason Sides, Brian Paulus, Brandon Wimmer and Billy Alley among many more.
