Lake Ozark Speedway Rules Meeting Friday, Jan 22

B Mods

Well said, we have been trying to get the same rules for the b mods for some time now and it looks like it's not going to change. Springfield runs a great set of rules and easy on the pocket. You know if you dont tec. the cars it dont matter what rules you have. We have been to MCS and Tri City and never been checked. Rules are just words unless enforced.

B Mods

This meeting may take forever and may not be worth the “hassle” if we can’t all be on the same page. I say everybody out there can compromise on the CCS rule vs. all other B mod rules. Just throwing this out there –

Rule set #1 Carb Rule- (Anyone with the right carb can race)
500 gauge legal carburetors with open transmission rules.

Or

Rule set #2 Weight Rule– (Anyone who shows up can race)
“Outlaw” (CCS rules)B mods have to weight –2500 lbs or ???
500 gauge legal carburetors (MCS rules) have to weight – 2350 lbs or ???
Create Motors/9:1 B Mods weight – 2200 lbs or ???

Who likes this….???
Any Ideas….???

My "complaint" had nothing to do with my eqipment, Im definately not whining. The B mod class was intended to be a cheaper alternative to A mod. With Callaway rules its simply not. Theres B mods pushing close to the 600 hp number now,you cant build 600 hp on a buget, period!

I know what our motor pulled on the dyno with the aresol, and with the legal 2 barrel, and the difference was astonomical, WAY more than expected, and it was only a 383, nothing like the 440s and 427s several guys will be running this year. put a legal carb on and it kills the power, only so much air you can get through that carb. It would give the 9:1 motors a fighing chance.

As far as the transmition, I could care less there, Ive always ran a 3 speed, have had a bert sitting on the shelf for 3 years, never tried it. Obviously there an advantage or no one would use them, but the transmition will only make a 10th place car a 9th place car.Thats all.

I have no problem at all with them adding a B class. Might be a great addition, but they really need to have some control of the rules. The rules they ran at tri city would be fine. a 9:1 motor was on the pole there and still fighting for the lead when the driver brain faded in lapped traffic.(oops)

Whatever is decided, theres alot of cars out there that need a good place to run, and in my opinion, from the one visit I made there, it is an extremely nice and well ran place. I was already planning on running there saturdays anyway, if the class is added, it just adds more thought in what Ill do this year, I really have no clue what were runing yet.

Los

Well since I have a dog in this fight I will weigh in on my opinion.

First, There is a lot of good thought running through these threads. I firmly believe LOS can have a large B class which ever rules are made. I will agree with whom ever said rules are just words unless they are enforced. I personally think ever track out there should consider that fact.

Secound, I will run regardless of Carb rule. However when it comes to suspention. All cars in the garage are 4 link. So in order for us to run at LOS it seems the suspention rule will either make us or break us. Dont have the money to run high dollar motors and I think I was competetive with "smokey". BTW she lives again!

In conclusion, If I can not run my B mod car in the B mod class, well I just will have to run in the back of the A mods. I love to race and regardless I will be running at LOS this year as money allows!

LOL, I know there was more then one point I was behind you last year thinking, "This has got to be his last lap, that ****ers not gonna hold any longer", yet you kept of trucking. I agree I will also run regardless of rules. I've ran with the "A" before and will do so again if I have too.Good luck this year!!!

Well lets all show up and voice our opinions. I say run Mcs rules with open trannys. I have a brinn and the brother has a bert. If i caint run it i will run A mod, i built a a-mod motor and a b-mod motor, dont mater to me.

And i see your point on the 9 to1 motors, but i say run the rules like MCS but open trannys, and give your 9to1 guys a weight brake. atleast for this year, to close the season to be building another motor

if their is a suspension rule i see it counting alot of guys out.all my cars are 4 bar cars..I think having a strictly 9.1 class will DROP car count considerably LESS.the fulton and MCS boys have about the same engines, carb and tranny was the only difference..I like the gauge legal carb rule.im with mike.i know for fact how much of a difference the aeresol carbs make.I have dynoed motors with both and the best motor in the world on a gauge legal 2bbl will be lucky to make 500hp..to me it is crazy to have a 600hp B-mod..that kinda power will run descent in an A-mod.I have always ran saginaw trannys and have always been competative..This year i did buy a couple bert transmissions so id like to be able to use them plus the fulton guys that have them dont have 3 speeds.Give the 3 speed and 9.1 guys a weight break..

I am with eric on the rules.i think ALL b-mods should be ALLOWED but there should be a gauge legal 2bbl carb rule.that will give all cars a fighting chance and give everyone a place to go on saturdays..Win Win situation!!!!!

I suspect UMP limited Rules becasue that would expand on the other classes also UMP sanctioned. Those were the same rules MCS ran and while no racing is cheap, At least some of the highest priced parts are eliminated. Alot of guys bring up the cost of new vs the cost of such such parts. I hardley ever see the said parts in comparison to used stuff. I have $300 in my clutch package including pedal, release bearing and bell. I have never seen a Bert, Brinn, Falcon sell used at that price. This is simply to make my point t hat used parts should be a consideration when making rules based on what something costs.

LOS is always slick so you guys with huge power are gonna be wishin you hadn't lol. Anyway, that goes a long way to holding down engine costs.

There seems to be a lot of descrepancy among drivers/teams about what a Bmod should be, how to define the class. I have always thought them to be a support class for the A's. That means to me, the priciest parts, Engines, transmissions, should be held in check while still allowing you to learn enough about setup, maintianance, driving skills, respect, showmanship, etc...It's much harder to do when the B's are radicaly different then the support class.

Either way, I will be there.
