LASALLE SPEEDWAY RELEASES 2013 MAJOR EVENT SCHEDULE
Annual ‘Spring Thaw Brawl’ Opens the New Season at La Salle with a Huge Opening Weekend of Revved Up Excitement March 28-30 Featuring $10K to win ALMS Super Late Model Battle
LaSalle, Illinois ( December 14, 2012) The new year at La Salle Speedway will provide a lot of added racing excitement for motorsports enthusiasts in 2013 as the dirt racing oval located near the crossroads of Interstates 39 & 80 has released its new major event schedule. Action kicks off in high gear as LaSalle Speedway will once again host the annual season-opening ‘Spring Thaw Brawl’ set for March 28-30 and hosting the ALMS Late Models in a $10,000 to win main event. The opener for LaSalle Speedway will also serve as the first event on the American Late Model Series (ALMS) championship points battle for 2013 campaign.
The Easter weekend will also launch the season for the UMP Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stock and Hornet divisions at LaSalle Speedway which will include a full weekend of family fun for race fans and kids alike. The season will get underway on Thursday evening March 28th with Open Practice sessions for all racing divisions followed on Friday and Saturday with the running of the ‘Spring Thaw Brawl’. As part of the two-day event the UMP Open Wheel Modifieds will battle for $1,500 to win. The Thursday night Open Practice will offer Free Grandstand Admission. Gates will open at 3:00 pm on Friday March 29th to officially open the racing season at LaSalle Speedway, but before the green flag flies on the track the Izzo family will host a special ‘Good Friday Fish Fry’, then later in the evening after the checkered flag waves LaSalle Speedway will provide a huge bon fire with live entertainment. In addition to the on-track action and a visit by the Easter Bunny on Friday and Saturday, the March 30th final day will feature a mega Easter Egg hunt with games and goodies for all the kids, including featured eggs that will reward five lucky kids with cash and special prizes. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series roars into LaSalle for the ‘Spring Shootout’ during the weekend of May 10-11 getting fired up with ‘The Night Before the Shootout’ on Friday May 10th will provide fireworks on the track at LaSalle Speedway featuring a special $1,500 to win UMP Late Model skirmish, UMP Open Wheel Modifieds racing in a $1,000 to win feature along with Street Stock and 4 Cylinder Hornet divisions. Then Saturday night May 11th will host a 50 lap rumble with the Lucas Oil Series sanctioned ‘Spring Shootout’ battling in a $10,000 to win prize for the super late models along with a second night of $1,000 to win action in the UMP Open Wheel Modifieds, plus Street Stocks and Hornets.
On Friday night June 28th ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ returns to LaSalle Speedway bringing the World of Outlaws back to town. The winged warriors of the World of Outlaws Series will battle on the high banks of LaSalle Speedway with support divisions to be announced.
Fireworks will be boom in the sky and sparks will be flying on the track Thursday July 4th as the UMP Summer Nationals makes its stop at LaSalle Speedway. The drivers on the 2013 ‘Hell Tour’ will slug it out at high speed in the ‘Independence 40’ with UMP Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hornets also on the schedule for the UMP SummerNationals date which will feature a monumental fireworks display to celebrate the Fourth of July at LaSalle Speedway.
The annual ‘Bill Waite Memorial’ race will bring the IRA Sprint cars to LaSalle Speedway on Saturday night August 24th and will feature racing action with UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hornets. These special events will highlight the 2013 LaSalle Speedway schedule.
