Limited Sportsman Photos

Question for Rich, in post #1 the picture with you setting backwords who is the #721. I notice Steffan's towing on the car. I think the Blue Hood is Henry Holzworth.

Post #7 The #82 is Bill Laycock (Billy's Dad). The #96 is Jerry Hollarbach's last car.

Post #9 I beleive Dan Darden's car was a old Hammerlee car.

You've got it all wrong about me sitting backwards. If you'll think back we used to pack the track in the oposite direction. Those other guys are doing it all wrong!!!!

Steffen towing is still on my vintage race car.

Not sure who 721 is but it looks like a Pacific tele. # in the sponsors name.

Think you're right about Henry's hood.

THANX RICH

People say I'm getting crankier as I get older. That's not it. I just find I enjoy annoying people a lot more now. Especially younger people!!!

These pictures were all taken by my buddy Jimmy Wilson. I sure miss the old cars. Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I do....brings back a lot of memories.

Some may have been taken by your buddy Jimmy Wilson but some were taken by some hack photographer named Robert Barr...lol

Cool Pics

Does anyone remember Dixon leading the 100-Lapper at Belle-Clair without a left front wheel! Late '80s.

I do, they let him race several laps and then black flagged him because they thought the front end would big in and flip him. They should of let him go, he did not need that wheel anyway. That was a great race!

I remember that night Eddie didn't have the left front. If I remember correct, it was broke he pulled in under caution and they took it all the way off and came back out. But they wouldn't let him run.

the 721 was Ron Young was his name. He worked with my uncle at Chrysler.

Would anyone have or would you know the rules and specs for the St Louis area modifieds? Were they similar to the late models? Did they use late model chassis? What about engines? Thanks Craig

the bo smith outlaw car(pictured) is sitting in my barn right now, last car tom built, would sell it to some one who would restore it back to how it looked in the shot,,i raced it last year, still complete........at first the mods were mostly stright axle coupes, then compact bodies then "A" frame front ends, kinda like a late model with a motor set back...

back then they were called "HOBBY CARS" not limited sportsman,,one night at the charlie bowl,50 of them showed up
