Lebanon, MO- With the July heat taking a break for a couple days, the heat turned up Saturday night at the high banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway for another night of great racing. When the dust finally settled there were several familiar faces in victory lane after several hard fought and wild finishes.

The bomber division would once again prove why week in and week out they provide some of the best racing anywhere in the Midwest, with the top 4 cars running side by side the entire feature. Chris Darnell and JC Morton would bring the field down for the 12-lap main event as the madness began behind them. Morton would stay on the high side the entire feature battling door handle to door handle with Darnell for the top spot the first half of the race. The top two stayed that way with Dean Hensler and Joe Francis battling for third behind them. Hensler and Francis would catch up with the top two along with Patrick West joining in to make a 5 car battle for the lead. Morton used to top to take the advantage as Darnell would be sidelined late in the race with mechanical trouble. Hensler would take over second and began to make his charge for the lead. Morton stayed high and wide with Hensler on the bottom until Hensler finally made to bottom line stick coming out of turn four to take the white flag. Morton would make a final charge on the last lap but it was to no avail as Hensler took home the feature win over Morton, Francis, West and Mike Slone rounding out the top five.

Lebanon’s Kris Jackson continued his dominance in the Factory Stocks, going from his sixth starting spot to second place by the end of lap one. Jackson would make short work of heat race winner George Meyer and would take over the top spot on the second lap and would never look back. Jackson made the win look easy taking back to back feature wins holding off Devin Wolansky after a late race caution. Jackson and Wolansky were followed to the line by Mike Smith, Darrel Martin and Lonnie Henderson rounded out the top five.

Tony Jackson jumped out to the early lead in the A-Modified feature and was holding off a hard charging Terry Beckham through the first half of the race. Beckham kept charging and had a fierce battle with Jackson for several laps for the top spot. Jackson stayed up on the high side of the racetrack holding Beckham off until Beckham finally made the bottom line around the race track work in turns three and four taking over the lead at the white flag and never looking back for his second win of the season. David Hendrix, Justin Neuman and Mookie Cunningham came in third, fourth and fifth behind the lead pair of Beckham and Jackson.

Bradley Roberts and Clint Todd would lead the strong field of 305 Sprint cars to the start of their 20-lap feature, and remained side by side for the first half of the race. Roberts and Todd put on a fierce battle with Roberts letting it all hand out on the top of the track and Todd staying planted on the bottom. Roberts looked to gain a slight advantage on the top until the power plant let go just before the halfway point of the feature. Eric Todd would then go to battle with brother Todd, staging another great battle for the lead. Eric would get around Todd on a late race restart and would cruise to back to back wins in the 305 Sprints.

Brad Looney and Dustin Mooneyham would bring the late models to the green of 20-lap $1,000 to win feature. Looney took the lead on the first lap and dominated the 20-lap feature, with Mooneyham and Larry Jones having a great side by side battle for second place. Looney would have a scare in lap traffic with two laps to go as the 52 car of Clyde Ward got pushed up to the top of the track right in front of the leader Looney. Looney would make it though and go on to collect the feature win, ahead of Mooneyham, Jones, Burl Woods and Leroy Johnson completing the top five.

The B-Modified feature saw the young gun Jason Otto and the seasoned veteran Jim Hayes put on a great battle from their front row starting positions for the entire race. Hayes stayed up high on the cushion the entire race, holding off the hard charging Otto on the bottom to take home the victory. Hayes and Otto were followed to the line by Josh Woody, Derrick Peterson, and Ted Ballinger.

The Rookies closed out the night, with the familiar battle for the top spot between the 7L of Josh Lewis and the 7R of Rich Reynolds. Reynolds bid for two wins in a row would be ended in turn three midway through the race after his throttle stuck sending him on a wild ride in to the turn three wall. Reynolds would be fine, but his car would not, ending his night. Lewis held off a late race charge from Jeff Brown and went on to take his third win of the season.

The real young guns of racing will get their chance at the high banks of the I-44 Speedway next Saturday night, as the Kids Bicycle Race will be during intermission, with a brand new bike going to the winner in each age division. The normal weekly classes of Late Models, A and B-Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Bombers and Rookies will also be competing, admission prices will be normal and remember kids 12 and under are always Free!
