Brad Looney became the first repeat Late Model feature winner of the 2003 racing season at the High-banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway Sat Night as close finishes at the Checkered flags highlighted the evening's race card.

In the Super Late Model feature, front row starter and 1988 Kingpin Darrell Mooneyham jumped from his pole position spot to lead the first 2 laps with Lebanon's Tony Jackson Jr in hot pursuit. As many of the star-studded field were trying figure whether the top or bottom was going to be faster,Jackson shot to the inside on lap 3 and took control with Mooneyham on his bumper.Back in the pack,Bolivar point leader Brad Looney was starting to make some noise as he used both the low and high grooves coming through from his 7th starting spot and Lancaster,Mo. hotshoe "The Hurryian Missourian" Chris Smyser was charging on the top groove from his 9th start spot. With young Jackson making his best showing to date, the former Asphalt speedster quickened the pace as Dustin Mooneyham was working the top lane from row 3.On lap 8,Looney battled hard with veteran Larry Jones for 4th and began his charge to the front as Dustin pulled along side of his father for runner-up position. As the field took lap 9,Looney shot to the inside of the Mooneyham battle and began his charge on leader Jackson,as Iowa Veteran Gary Webb was making some moves to the front half of the pack from his 12th starting position. It was on lap 11 that Looney put his #14 GRT/Hatfield/Monte Carlo to the inside of Jackson and began pulling away while Smyser was coming fast through the field.

With Looney in full command, the real battle was for second as Jackson,Mooneyham's and Smyser began there battle with Dustin using the high groove to gather runner-up spot as Smyser,Jackson and Darrell Mooneyham battled for third. As the laps clicked off,Smyser used the high groove to his liking and moved into a solid third as Webb was working on Larry Jones for 6th place. As the checkered flew,it was Looney becoming the 1st repeat Late Model winner followed by Dustin Mooneyham, Smyser charging quickly into third followed by Jackson Jr, and Darrell Mooneyham.

In the Modified feature,Camdenton's James Hartman and Brian Schutt brought the field down for the green as Schutt put his #51 to the high-side to lead lap 1 with Hartman working the low side.Springfield's Eric Lampe was making some moves and shot to the inside of Schutt to take control on lap 3 as Jamie Ragland was making his charge to the front along with point leader Erik Maggard. As Lampe refused to move off of the bottom as Ragland was trying in high-side to gather the lead.On lap 7,the Yellow would wave for Bill Lee's spin in turn 4 bunching the field up.On the restart,Lampe held his ground as point leader Maggard was now moving to challange Scotty Atkinson for the 3rd spot as Atkinson found the top of the track to his liking and was coming fast. With Lampe in charge,Ragland moved to the very top followed closely by Atkinson, Maggard, Veteran Darryl Turner, Schutt, and Hartman battling for positions. It was on lap 10, that Maggard moved to the inside of Ragland to gather second and moved closer to Lampe.Lap 11 the yellow would wave as Ragland jumped the cushion and spun in turn 4.On the restart,Maggard tried the inside on Lampe as Eric stayed firm on the bottom while Atkinson,Hartman,Turner, and Schutt were battling for position.A final Yellow would wave on lap 16 for Joe Johnson setting up a dogfight to the finish as Maggard tried repeated challanges to the inside as Lampe shut the door.On the final lap, Maggard went to the middle groove as pulled along side of Lampe, but Lampe held his ground to record his first ever I-44 Modified victory as Maggard came half a car length short.Following them to the line were Atkinson(for the second straight week),Darryl Turner, and Hartman.
The SuperStock Feature set the tone for the night for the close finishes as Larry Prewitt took charge after 2 restart and looked to put himself into the winners circle, but a late race yellow pulled point leader Mike Joplin on his bumper with only 3 laps to go_On the restart,Joplin pulled to the inside while Prewett stayed on the top side and at the finish,Joplin would squeak out the win on the final lap, followed closely by Prewett, rick Brown recovering from and early incident in the evening, last weeks winner Matt Pilant, and Tad Scherer in his best finish of the season.
The Bomber feature saw Robert White jump out to a big lead from his front row starting spot anmd puuling away from the field until a lap 12 caution waved bunching the field up.On the restart,White found Criag Lonning, points runner-up and new daddy Gary Klossner charging hard as point leader Micheal Maggard was coming on the top side.As the pack took the white flag,Lonning shot to the high side and Klossner put his Ford to the low side of the leader White. As they sped to the checkers,Klossner pulled along side of White as they touched coming for the line. With both car sideways,it was Klossner edging ahead at the stripe followed closely by Lonning who went upstairs, early leader White,Maggard, and Jason Huey in the 19 car starting grid.

The FactoryStock Feature had Darrin Crisler jump from his front row outside starting spot to take the early lead with Quintin Day following in tow.As the pack split into 2 groups(front half, back half)the racing was hard to watch as positions were shuffling fast and quick. With Crisler holding on repeated charges by Day,Camdenton resident Josh Franklin charged from his 5th row starting spot and was challanging for the lead with Cookie Blevins now joining the fun up front also_On lap 11,a late race caution for Matt Graham would bunch up the field, and on the restart,Crisler kept his Torino on the high groove in control with Day continuing to look on the inside. As the field took the white flag,Franklin was looking for running room was all 4 in the top 4 spots were looking for there first wins of the season. As the pack headed for the checkered,Day went down low and Crisler and Day touched sending both cars sideways at the checkered flag with Day inching his nose ahead at the stripe of Crisler in regaining the point lead and taking his 1st win of the season, followed very closely by Crisler,Franklin,Blevins and Jordan Holloway at the stripe.
