M.A.R.S. Challenges U.M.P. In A Pair of Show-Me State Events This Weekend

Batesville, Arkansas (August 2nd, 2006) – The Mid America Racing Series will return to action this weekend with a pair of challenge events against the United Midwestern Promoters (U.M.P.) Super Late Models in the state of Missouri.

M.A.R.S. will bring a strong contingent of drivers into battle including Bill Frye (Arkansas), Terry Phillips (Missouri), Steve Rushin (Missouri), Jeff Taylor (Arkansas), Billy James (Missouri), Will Vaught (Missouri), Jeff Floyd (Arkansas), Jordan Jones (Arkansas), Joey Mack (Missouri), Justin Wells (Missouri), Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Brandon McCormick (Missouri), and Dane Dacus (Tennessee).

U.M.P. will be bringing many of its top drivers into action including Randy Korte, Dennis Erb Jr., Billy Faust, Steve Sheppard Jr., Rondney Melvin, Frank Heckenast Jr., Michael Kloos, and Kirby Damery.

Night #1 of the double header will be held on the 1/3 mile, clay oval at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri on Saturday, August 5th. Lake Ozark Speedway is located off of Highway 54 at the Highway 52 exit in Eldon, Missouri. The track is located at the end of the frontage road on the south side of Highway 54. Pit gates will open at 4:00 and the grandstand gates will open at 5:00pm. Hot laps will get under way at 6:30 pm and racing begins at 7:00pm. Adult general admission is $16. Pit passes are $30. Children 12 years of age and under are free. Open Wheel Modifieds, Fastrak Late Models, and Street Stocks will also be in action on the card.

Night #2 of the double header will find the M.A.R.S. competitors rolling into Monett, Missouri for a Sunday night showdown in the tri-state area at Monett Speedway on Sunday, August 6th. Monett Speedway is located on Highway 60 North of the Wal-Mart Super Center . For more information and directions, please visit http://monettspeedway.tripod.com . Gates open at 5:00 with hotlaps at 7:00 and racing action at 7:30.

Each event will pay $5,000 to win and $500 to start for the 40 lap features.
