M.A.R.S. Squares Off Against M.L.R.A. At Lake Ozark Speedway This Saturday Night

Batesville, AR (June 12, 2006) After almost a two month hiatus, the stars and cars of the Mid America Racing Series (MARS) will roar back into action as they challenge the Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri this Saturday, June 17th.

Current point’s leader, Wendell Wallace from Batesville, Arkansas leads the M.A.R.S. competitors into battle this weekend. Bill Frye has won the last two M.A.R.S. events and currently sits in the second position in points. Terry Phillips (Missouri), Steve Rushin (Missouri), and Jeff Taylor (Arkansas) round out the top five in series’ points after the first five events of 2006. Other M.A.R.S. competitors expected for this weekend include Billy James (Missouri), Will Vaught (Missouri), Jeff Floyd (Arkansas), Jordan Jones (Arkansas), Joey Mack (Missouri), Justin Well (Missouri), Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Brandon McCormick (Missouri), and Dane Dacus (Missouri).

The O’Reilly M.L.R.A. will be bringing many of its top guns into action including current point’s leader and defending M.L.R.A. Champion, Al Purkey from Coffeyville, Kansas.

The event will pay $3,000 to win and $500 to start for the 40 lap feature. This will mark the first time that the M.A.R.S. Super Late Models and M.L.R.A. Super Late Models have gone head to head in a challenge event.

The event will be held on the 1/3 mile, clay oval at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri. Lake Ozark Speedway is located off of Highway 54 at the Highway 52 exit in Eldon, Missouri. The track is located at the end of the frontage road on the south side of Highway 54. Pit gates will open at 4:00 and the grandstand gates will open at 5:00pm. Hot laps will get under way at 6:30 pm and racing begins at 7:00pm. Adult general admission is $16. Pit passes are $30. Children 12 years of age and under are free. Open Wheel Modifieds, Fastrak Late Models, and Street Stocks will also be in action on the card.
