Anyone know a good place for finding good Used Machine Shop Equiptment.Boring Bars,Surfacer,Mill, tanks,Head tooling and machines????

Hoffman's entire machine shop is or was for sale. haven't been by there in a while. I think his screen name is Hoffman1d.

ive bought a few things off ebay already, was just wondering if someone maybe seen some stuff other places..thanks alot fo reply's!

Check asset auctions. They have been selling our older equipment for a while now and they are going dirt cheappp... There are several machine shops selling equipment right now so check the auctions. Good luck

Start with an equipment wanted ad in the classified section Items Wanted. There may be a few shops looking to upgrade if someone was interested in their existing equipment.

Try Ramming machine over in St louis. They had an auction friday of last week..(surface grinders, lathes, mills , boring bars , etc.Not sure whats left. Good luck.

If you're going to try to make money with this equipment, I would look into one of the used automotive machinery dealers around, like Jamison... the others slip my mind just now, but I'll think of them later... they're bookmarked on my home computer. Ebay is cheap, but it's easy to get a turd if you can't see it in person. I would suggest a Bridgeport type mill for head work- there is tooling and fixturing available that will make a mill every bit as good as a dedicated head machine, and much cheaper and more versatile to boot. AERA has a used machinery BBS that is ( or at least used to be) very good for used machinery.

BTW, I have a Van Norman 570 head and block surfacer for sale, if you're interested. Comes with all fixturing, including Van Norman's version of a BHJ Tru-Deck, allowing for surfacing blocks square and true. Has all new cutters in broach head: $1250. Also have a Lisle manual hone, price TBD.

I forgot: I also have several sets of seat grinding setups available; Hall Toledo, Kwik-way, and Sioux. I haven't used any of them since changing to carbide tooling on a Bridgeport!

will call both of you.the Bridgeport is what we were looking into.ive seen some good used ones priced right.thanks
