NIGHT OF NASCAR STARS I RESCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 19, 2008

(Macon, IL) After much planning and scheduling Macon Speedway announces the Night of Nascar Stars I will be rescheduled for August 19, 2008 which will feature Nascar Stars Kevin Harvick and Kenny Wallace with more to be announced at a later date. Tickets purchased for the Night of Nascar Stars I originally on the schedule for May 26 will be good for the new date of August 19, 2008. Tickets are on sale now for August 19 by calling 217-764-3000, as we still have many good seats available.

Kevin Harvick (Happy), winner of the 2007 Daytona 500 is joining fellow Sprint Cup veteran Kenny Wallace in visiting Macon Speedway on August 19, 2008. Kevin is currently 10th in points behind Jeff Gordon in the Sprint Cup Series. Kenny is very excited to be coming back home to visit his track to see the local racers and fans of Macon Speedway.

Kevin Harvick was born on December 8, 1975, in Bakersfield, California. Kevin says he is considering a career in architecture when his racing days are over. In 2003, Kevin became the first driver in the history to win the Brickyard 400 from the pole position. After Kevin won the 2003 Brickyard 400, he blew a tire and lost a fender spinning victory doughnuts. The day before winning the 2007 Daytona 500, Kevin won the Orbitz 300. It was his first victory at Daytona, followed 24 hours later by his second. Kevin’s hobbies include skeet shooting, racing radio-controlled cars and playing golf and video games. He has a large arcade in his basement.
Kenny Wallace’s background in racing came straight from his bloodlines. His father, Russ, was one of the Midwest's most successful short track drivers, and his two older brothers, Rusty and Mike, are racers as well. In his first stint ever behind the wheel of a race car in 1982, Wallace won the Street Stock State Championship in Illinois. After turning wrenches on older brother, Rusty's, race cars for a few years, Kenny returned to driving by competing in the American Speed Association (ASA) in 1986. He immediately found success by garnering Rookie of the Year honors and finishing 11th in series points. Kenny also finished second behind fellow Macon Speedway owner Kenny Schrader in the Night of Nascar Stars II held at Macon Speedway on June 12.

Gates open at Macon Speedway on August 19 at 3:00 PM. An autograph session with the NASCAR drivers will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 on a first-come, first-served basis. Racing starts at 6:30 PM.

All seating for the Nights of NASCAR Stars at Macon Speedway is reserved. Adult seats are $25 and seats for children 12 and under are $5 for the August 19 event. Pit passes will be $30.
