MACON -- Macon Speedway welcomed back all the whole Hogan Grain and Equipment family to the track Saturday night. This week's show hosted plenty of fun activities along with all the racing action we've come to expect from the country's fastest 1/5 mile dirt track. The full capacity crowd was on hand for all the lightning fast dirt action. Plus, all the best drivers came to town, so many the pit area was overflowing with cars and crews.

The Raminator monster truck made its first appearance of the year at Macon Speedway. A few cars and even a motorboat felt the wrath of the Raminator. Thanks to the second Kenny's Car Giveaway, Mike Durbin from Decatur went home with a new 1997 Chevy Astro Van courtesy of Clinton Auto Auction. Zac Bunten, 14, won the second Kid Modz race of the season, his second in a row.

Eric Edwards beat out a huge 20 car field in the POWRi MiniSpint feature at Macon Speedway. Edwards proved himself as a Macon Speedway champion again by running in the lead for most of the feature race. The Stallard squad finished one-two-three with Derek King and Ben Wagoner finishing second and third.

The BARBECK Communications Modified feature was full of plenty of beating and banging. Buffalo's Jeff Leka won the race over his uncle Jim Leka, the four-time defending track champion. The Leka's took the finish but the real racing action was behind them. Several cars including points runner-up Jeremy Nichols were involved in quite a few close encounters during the race. Aaron Burcham dodged enough hot tempers and spinning cars to finish third.
In a race filled with plenty of caution laps, Jeff Graham was just hoping his car would hold together. Graham's car started pouring smoke in the first few laps. After winning the feature, Graham pulled into the infield so the Macon Speedway crew could put out the fire under his car. Second place finisher Scott Landers had the speed to win, but every time he was in position for the pass, either a lapped car or a caution would keep him in second. This week's race was first of three Sportsman Qualifiers for the race at the Springfield Mile.

Larry Russell Jr. was back in winning form in the Street Stocks. Russell Jr. went from fourth to first in a jiffy and never looked back. Joe Reed's been eating up the competition in the Pro Hornet class. Reed led by 20 points over the closest challenger going into this weeks race and extended his lead again with another win.

Even with just four cars in the race, Hornet Heat number one might've been the most exciting finish of the night. Fred Reed from Decatur went from fourth to first on the final turn. The top three contenders, Bruce Dulgar, James Hankins and Jeff Dodd, all collided trying to get through turn four. Reed made good use of the opening on the outside and barely beat out the spinning car of Dulgar.

Sunday, Ken Schrader we'll be coming to Macon Speedway for the third installment of the Late Model Tri-Track Challenge. Schrader won the first Tri-Track race in Paducah, but race number two at I-55 Raceway was rained out. If any driver wins two out three races in the Tri-Track Challenge, they'll receive a $10,000 bonus, along with the $6,000 to win.
