Last weekend, Cooley Motorsports entered three events as they battled weather most of the weekend.
Cooley Motorsports traveled to Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi on Friday night, August 28th for the first leg of the NeSmith Late Model Series double header at the 3/8 mile oval. Forty-eight entries signed in for action, and Eric qualified 32nd fastest in time trials. He would finish fifth in his heat race, which left him one spot short of a transfer to the feature, so he was forced to run the b-main event, where he finished second to earn the 20th starting spot for the 40 lap main event. Despite starting deep in the field, Eric didn't let it get him down as rocketed his way to a solid 8th place finish by the time that the checkered flag fell.
Eric entered the second night of the NeSmith Late Model Series double header at Whynot Motorsports Park on Saturday night, August 29th. With thirty Crate Late Models on hand, Eric qualified 16th fastest. After finishing third in his heat race, Cooley started in the 10 position in the 50 lap feature event. Eric was up to the 5th position, when heavy rains set in on lap 28 forcing the event to be shortened. With his 5th place finish, Eric now holds an 88 point lead over Larry Boutwell in the latest NeSmith National Late Model Series standings.
On Sunday night, Cooley once again dodged Mother Nature to enter a racing event as he traveled to the familiar confines of Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi for a Weekly Racing Series Event. With 20 NeSmith Crate Late Models on hand, Eric picked up a 3rd place finish in the feature event.
