Billy James dominated the Late Model field at the Malden Speedway Friday night. James grabbed the lead from the outside front row and never looked back. By the end of the race he had a three and half second lead over second place. The race for second was a good one as Joey Mack dove low out of turn four and overtook pole sitter Steve Karnes for the position on lap 11.
Steve Rushin passed Karnes a lap later for third. Brad Buck finished fifth.
Heat winners were Karnes and James.

Shane Moody picked up his first ever Modified feature victory in a caution filled race. A total of six caution flags, the most significant being one on a restart on lap two. Early race leader Robert Powers spun and collected
Mike Francis knocking both cars out of the race. Jared Wagster inherited
the lead while the Moody, Troy Fowler, and Jeremy Russell fought it out behind him. In a daring move through turns three and four, while Wagster was guarding against Fowler diving under him, both Russell and Moody came around the outside. Moody took the lead from Russell a lap later as Russell suffered a flat tire. All Moody had to do was hold off the challengers for five laps to get his first win. His last challenge was from hard charging Shawn Haynes who moved into second after a lap of side by side racing with Wagster to get the position. Randy Martin and Larry Hull rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Powers, Francis, and Wagster.
