Following a week off for rain, the Malden Speedway resumed its 2004 season Friday night. Steve Karnes of Marion Illinois took top honors in the Late Model division. Bart Richardson returned to his familiar spot on victory lane in the Modified class. Doug Moore picked up his first win of the 2004 season. Aaron Darby made it two in a row in the Street Stock division. The 38K Cruiser car is three for three, this week driven by Chris Kelley and Brandon Moore.

Steve Karnes started on the outside front row and grabbed the lead coming out of turn two. Karnes opened his lead to over two seconds by mid-race before Rex Berry began reeling him in. By lap 18, Berry had closed to Karnes' back bumper but that would be as close as he would get. Joey Mack battled through the pack to take third. David Gibson and Bronson Berry
rounded out the top five. Rex Berry and Karnes won the heat races.
