Glenn Griffin held the lead by the slimmest of margins when Rick Mouser's car burst into flames. An immediate red flag was thrown, Mouser got out safely and the fire extinguished. In the intervening track cleanup, Griffin developed a flat tire and left the track, he ultimately settled with a sixth place finish. Tony Anglin inherited the lead from Griffin and held it for three laps when Claudie Cook came charging out of turn 2 on lap 10 to take over the top spot. Cook held on for the win.
