MARA Mini-sprints to kick off season at Fayette County Speedway
The Midwest Auto Racing Association Mini-sprint division will kick off its season at Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, IL on Sunday, May 29th and will return there again on Monday, May 30th. Sunday’s show will pay $400 to win and Monday’s A-main will pay $500 to the winner. This 2-day event will kick off the inaugural MARA mini-sprint division season.
All MARA mini-sprint races will offer points to MARA members. Membership information is available at www.mararacing.com. There will be a point fund paid out at the end of the season, along with contingencies awards at our annual awards banquet. Each race will have a $10 entry fee, which will go to cover administrative expenses and also part of the point fund. All cars not qualifying for the nightly A-main will get this $10 back. Purse money from each event will be mailed out of the MARA office immediately following the event.
A group of MARA midget car owners would like to announce that the 2005 MARA mini-sprint points champion will receive a 3 race midget contract for the 2006 season. Driver must be at least 16 years of age prior to 2006 races in order to run midget due to insurance regulations. Another special mini-sprint race is currently being planned at this time, which will offer the winner of the A-main that night a chance at a 3 race midget contract for 2006 as well. MARA is committed to growing the sports of both midget and mini-sprint races and would like to recognize those mini-sprint racers who earn an opportunity to move into another class of racing. More information will follow as the season progresses.
Contingency sponsor - while there is no tire rule for the MARA mini-sprints, Meents Motorsports, the official American Racer Tire dealer for MARA would like to announce it will offer a $50 bonus to any mini-sprint A-main winner who has an American Racer right rear on his or her car for that event. American Racer Tires are available through Meents Motorsports at 618-210-4342 or at the track and also through Boubin Tire Company 800-RACETIR.
