BATESVILLE AR. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Mid-America Racing Series will end a long break in its schedule, returning to action this weekend. Off since May 9, the series will make return visits to the Batesville Speedway and the West Plains Motor Speedway. Leslie Essary kicked off the 2003 season with a win at Batesville back in April, and current point leader, Terry Phillips notched his first series checkered flag of 2003 at West Plains.

Phillips will roll into the weekend with an eighteen point lead over second place Jeff Taylor. Phillips is off to a tremendous start, winning four out of the first seven events that the series has gotten in. Taylor picked up his first win the last time the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. series was able to complete an event, May 9 at the Memphis Motorsports Park.

Leslie Essary is currently third in series points. Essary has one win, and is only twenty markers behind Phillips, and just two back of Jeff Taylor. Bill Frye has the other series win, and is currently fourth in points. Frye is 44 points out of first place, and is still very much in the running with most of the season still on the horizon.

Jeff Floyd is fifth in points, still looking for his first win of the season, but very much in the thick of things. Mike Brown rides in sixth place in series points. Brown, in his first year running the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. series full time, has picked up a top five, and has three top tens to his credit.

Jerry Buck is in seventh in points, and has proven himself to be a very strong competitor in 2003. Buck has three top tens, and is looking to have a breakout year. Charlie Randolph is the leading Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year contender, and has had a very strong start to his 2003 season. Randolph has notched a pair of top fives, and has had another top ten in his charge to take the top rookie honors in 2003.

Dewaine Hottinger and Steve Rushin are locked in a dead heat for the nine spot going into this weekend. Both have struggled, but Rushin does have a pair of top ten finishes. Mike Bowers is just outside of the top ten, but is very competitive this year and could push into the top ten this weekend.

Wendell Wallace is not a full time competitor on the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. tour, but is scheduled to be on hand this weekend. Shane Essary is currently second in Kuntz & Co. Rookie points and will be on hand this weekend. Joey Mack is also expected.

Jack Sullivan, also in the hunt for the Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year title is expected this weekend, as is Gary Stolba.

Both events this weekend will reward the winner with $3,000. Every starter will be guaranteed at least $500
