BATESVILLE AR. There will be no rest for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Mid-America Racing Series Super Late Models. After completing a long 3 race Independence Day Weekend, the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. series will be right back in action with a return visit to the Boliver Speedway, and Lebanon I-44 Speedway.

Terry Phillips swept the events at those two tracks earlier in the season, but two-time, and defending series champion Bill Frye has re-emerged as a serious threat to Phillips, who is the current point leader.

Terry Phillips, of Springfield, Missouri, had what many people would consider to be an excellent weekend. Phillips picked up his seventh win of the season at the Malden Speedway on Friday. Add to that a fourth place run at Delta Bowl Speedway, and a sixth place finish at Batesville, and one would think that things went Phillips' way this past weekend.

Bill Frye, of Greenbriar, Arkansas is what kept Phillips from having an outstanding weekend. Frye picked up a pair of victories, and added a second place run to the total, finishing behind Phillips at Malden. Frye sliced ten points off Phillips' lead in the series points heading into this weekend.

Another driver on a roll is Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Floyd didn't pick up a win, but he did just about everything other than that. Floyd finished second behind Bill Frye at Delta Bowl, then ran third the next two nights. Floyd has rocketed up the points standings, and is currently third.

Jeff Taylor of Batesville, Arkansas is currently fourth in O'Reilly M.A.R.S. points. After a top five on Thursday, Taylor was the first man out of the event at Malden after an altercation on the start of the race. Taylor had a better night Saturday at Batesville, but finished one spot outside the top ten there.

Leslie Essary of Crane, Missouri didn't fare well over the weekend either. Essary lost points with a pair of "dnf's" at Delta Bowl and Malden. He rallied for a top five at Batesville, and will look for a good weekends at tracks he is framiliar with to turn his fortunes back around.

Jerry Buck of Harviell, Missouri was steady all weekend, picking up three top tens. Buck sits in the sixth position in series points. Mike Brown of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma is currently seventh, and wasn't able to crack the top ten over the weekend, but is still in the hunt to move up in series points.

Dewaine Hottinger, of Russellville Arkansas, occupies the eighth spot in points, and a pair of top tens bolstered his efforts towards a top finish in this seaons race. Mike Bowers, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, dropped back one spot in the points battle, but did record a top ten at the Batesville Speedway on Saturday.

Steve Rushin, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, had a mixed bag over the weekend. He failed to make the feature at Delta Bowl, but had a strong top ten at Malden, then was runner-up behind Frye in his best finish of the year Saturday at the Batesville Speedway. Rushin rounds out the top ten.

Charlie Randolph II of Muskogee, Oklahoma had another challenging weekend, but still heads the Kuntz & Company Rookie point standings. Joey Mack of Benton, Missouri had a top five at Malden, and is in 12th in series points.

Jack Sullivan, of Greenbriar, Arkansas has risen to 13th in series points, and had a third place run at Delta Bowl and added a top ten at Batesville. Sullivan is 2nd in Kuntz & Company Rookie points. Gary Stolba, of Willow Springs, Missouri is another driver running better of late and had a top ten at Delta Bowl to prove it.

Shane Essary of Aurora, Missouri rounds out the top 15 in series points, and is third in Kuntz & Company Rookie points. Stacy Taylor, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, David Gibson of Ash Flat, Arkansas, Jerry Walker of Southhaven, Mississippi, and Rex McCroskey of Springfield, Missouri are other drivers to look for this weekend.

Gates are scheduled to open at 5:30 at the Boliver Speedway, with hotlaps set for 7:00 and racing at 8:00.
