MARS TRIPLE HEADER THROUGH ARKANSAS, OKLAHOMA, & MISSOURI ON TAP

Batesville, Arkansas (August 3, 2004) – After splitting a double header with Mother Nature over the weekend, the stars and cars of the O’Reilly Mid America Racing Series (M.A.R.S.) will roar back into action as they thunder through the Ozark Mountains with the 26th Annual Summertime Classic spanning three nights at three tracks..

After losing the front end of the weekend’s double header to rain at Memphis Motorsports Park, the M.A.R.S. drivers were able to sneak in an event on Saturday night at I-30 Speedway that saw Terry Phillips pick up the win. With the win Phillips ever so slightly cut into Wendell Wallace’s series’ points lead. Heading into this weekend’s events Wallace maintains a 30 point edge over Phillips in the standings. Jeff Taylor, Jeff Floyd, and Bill Frye round out the top five in series’ standings.

Other drivers expected to be in action include Peyton Taylor, Raymond Merrill, Gary Stolba, Keith Craft, Jon Mitchell, Brad Looney, Dustin Mooneyham, Scott Drake, Dewaine Hottinger, Brandon McCormick, Jerry Buck, Steve Rushin, Joey Mack, Leslie Essary, and many more super late model stars of the Midwest.

Night #1 of the triple header will find the resident Martians at their home base as they invade the Batesville Speedway, located in Locust Grove, Arkansas, for a $3,000 to win, 40 lap feature event on Friday, August 6th. Night #2 of the triple header will see the Martians head up the road to Tri State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma on Saturday, August 7th. This will be the only visit of the year for the M.A.R.S. Super Late Models to the facility. Racing starts at 7:00 on Saturday night. Tri State Speedway is located one mile west of Fort Smith, Arkansas on I-540 at Pocola, Okla.. Night #3 of the triple will find the Martians rolling into Monett, Missouri for a Sunday night show down in the tri-state area at Monett Speedway on Sunday, August 8th.
