McDowell snatches victory from Moyer at Haubstadt WoO Event... Complete Results

Dale McDowell snuck in the backdoor at Tommy Helfrich's meticulously prepared TRI-STATE Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana and emerged out the emergency exit with a $10,000 payday that was all but written to Billy Moyer.

McDowell rode the hub to victory by passing Moyer on lap 59 only to have Moyer volley back off of turn 2 to regain the lead. McDowell would overtake Moyer once more off of turn 4 heading for the checkered flag and lead the most important few feet of the event! Moyer who had taken the lead on lap 32 of the 60 lap event, started from the pole position and took the lead when Scott Bloomquist rode high into the turn in 1 and 2 after leading the previous 31 markers and looking strong.

McDowell who started in the eighth slot was unaware of who was leading the event and didn't even realize he had just taken the top prize until he got to the scale and was told to roll back onto the track to victory lane!

The evening began with Steve Francis recording the fast quailfier spot with a lap of 13.184, the best of the 26 cars on hand.

The heat races were won by Francis over Moyer, Rick Eckert, Scott James, Mike Balzano, Chub Frank, Shannon Babb, Steve Karnes and Jeremy Sneed, Bart Hartman over Bloomquist, McDowell, Rick Aukland, Darrel Lanigan, Kevin Claycomb, Duane Chamberlain, Tom Treadway and Clint Smith and the final heat going to Dan Schlieper over Timmy McCreadie, Dennis Erb, Josh Richards, Joe Morris, Tait Davenport, John Blankenship and Darrell Bex.

The consi to transfer the final 4 starters was a walk for Babb as he dominated the event over Smith, Chamberlain and Blankenship.

The dash to determine the first 6 starting positions was won by Moyer over Bloomquist, Schlieper, Hartman, Francis and McCreadie.

I think 28. It was some of the best racing I have seen in a long time. I talked to McDowell in the pits after the race and he honestly had no idea that he won. Looked like Bloomer had it, then Moyer passed him. Francis was really strong untill a spin. Hartman ran 2nd for a while before fading. Then Eckert came to 2nd and looked like he might run down Moyer untill McDowell passed them in lapped traffic. Looked like the top was the place to be, but the 17m won on the bottom. What a great race.

Awesome I hope the show at Tri-City tomorrow is just as good! You can probably even throw a little more into the mix with some of the XDCS guys! It should be a great show!

This was some of the best Late Model racing outside of the World 100 that I have seen in a long time. I was a little discouraged that O'Neal wasn't going to be there but he wasn't missed. The Dirty Dozen put on a heck of a show. Modfied were fast also. Everett Bradham was flying. Came from 14th to finish 4th.

Yea! I am excited to see how many top knotch guys there are tomorrow night at Tri-City! O'Neal will be there, some XDCS guys i know, and also some other ump guys maybe none that are running for ump points probably but it will be a very strong field of cars i cant wait! Probably wont be very many mods there though! Atleast not any ump

I would absolutely love to go to Tri-City tomorrow but I think I would have a divorce as a result of it.

LOL i hear you man, MY woman made me pick between tonight or tomorrow night, and she had something she wanted to do tonight so i said i would go tomorrow! Can't win 'em all! LOL!

Too bad you missed out on tonight it was awesome. I couldn't believe the lap Francis laid down. Bloomer was a couple tenths off and was second quick. I was impressed and judging by the crowd, I would say they will be back next year.

Can't wait till tomorrow how many cars you guys think will be there tomorrow?? With adding in some XDCS guys and some locals and O'Neal and weaver??

Thats about what i figured! There will be alot of cars going home! I mean good drivers! The WoO guys are gonna have to bring it tomorrow!

Hey!!! just got back home from one of the best races I have seen in a long long time. Racing all around the track.Bad as I hate to say it ..... as Pooh boy would say..... It was simply AWESOME!!!!! A great track was laid down from the very start, and was kept that way all night. Give a tip of the hat to the guys that prepare the track!!!!! This was my first time there and the start of many to come.:D :D :D :D :D

From what I saw tonight you won't have to worry about the dirty dozen bringin it. Hopefully this was all the start of many WoO shows at Haubstadt in the future.
