Is mel still going to run b-mods? heard he was going to crate b-mods? I hope not because i am not going to sell a good motor to get a crate motor, why spend $$4000 on a good motor and sell it for a CRATE MOTOR. Would someone let me know what his plans are for next year so i can make plans on where to run on saturdays. If he goes to crate b-mods what is all the b-mod guys going to do?I would say he will loose some cars.KEEP THE B-MODS MELL DO NOT BRING IN CRATE B-MODS, or if he does he needs to let the b-mods run and ad weight.

What the deal was if you run a crate motor you were going to get a weight brake. Plus I think no more roller cams and an extra 50lbs for the B's.

Why make any changes

Personally,I wouldn't make any changes.30 plus cars nearly every week and a great show.If anything just drop the roller cams and leave the rest as is.JMO

30+ cars, 4 or 5 cars that always win, 10 more cars that could win if it weren't a contest on how much you can spend.

I think Mel ought to tighten up the rules even more. I think the rules should be something between MCS and Fredricktowns rules.

BIG horsepower doesn't necessarily mean winning. Setup and seat time make a big difference too. I guess you could always put a claim rule in effect.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply big horsepower was all of it even through that is a part of it.

If you can afford to buy a tire or two, Replace shocks, Replace pull bar springs, every week you can get the big horsepower to the ground. When your talking about the top 7 to 10 in the B-mod class the setup and seat time argument is wrong. The only major difference is spending.

Modfan,
A large majority of the B-Mod front runners in the class has being racing for a while and for the most part have learned how to get the most they can out of their cars... I can’t think of anyone that was spending their way to the front.

BTW, what would you suggest restricting? … The class is WAY too expensive (all racing really is) BUT I’m not sure what else, besides eliminating the roller cams, would be a good idea.

I also wanted to add… I’m HATING the idea of adding another 50lbs… There’s too much bolt on weight as it is. It’s a safety thing. The bolt on schtuff is dangerous!

Okay, Here are a couple of things I think that would make the B-Mod class more affordable.
  1. Make the crate B-Mod rules the same as fas-track crate rules:4bbl,berts
  2. Add a REASONABLE claim
  3. Raise the weights up
  4. Require a full size clutch
  5. get rid of roller motors
  6. Go to an H-Tire
These are just thoughts off the top of my head. Okay pick them apart:D :D

If you add a 4bbl and a bert then you might as run an A mod.

I understand that but I still think that if you add a 4bbl and a bert that you might as well have a A-mod.

are you freaking kidding me???you say big ''horsepower''..do you realize that the MOST you will see out of any 2bbl motor is 500hp with roller cam and aeresol carb,if your lucky!!!

leave the classes alone, frankly i get tired of all the cry baby BS,first everyone wants the rules opened up,now they want them tightened up.why keep mandating these rules.crate motors are no better..the guys running crates are spending a hell of alot of money on them, yes the motor is cheap, but the rest of their cars(front runners) are high dollar.i see used crate cars going for $13,000-$18,000 all day long.fact is the guys with money are going to spend it and use it to their advantage, weather it be open motor rules or crate motor rules, its a fact plain and simple.look at the competative go-kart or 600 mini sprint teams, they got a fortune in them.

the answer is good rules and good tech men to inforce them, anymore the tech guys dont know their arses from a hole in the ground.stiffen the rule book and abide by them, dont over look chit cause you want to be home early!!!!!!!!!!

JMO...

Let's face it.....if you're budget minded (which most of us are) none of us should be in this anyway...lol. No matter what you do to "restrict" a class, there has always been and will always be ways to spend your money to go faster.Like I said, just leave it alone and tech 'em to make sure it's a level playin field week to week. JMO

I spoke to Mel yesterday and his attorney said the Judge denied the petition to drop the suit. Looks like more money and going to trial. So back to the bigger question will there be a MCS next year. I know only a few people keep the other post alive but its right back to where we started. A lawsuit that has the track in jeopardy.

I'm not so sure about your statement you can only get 500 HP out of a 2bbl motor. Making 1HP per cubic inch is pretty easy and if your starting out with a 425+ cid motor you can get over 500hp pretty quick.

I completely agree with you about needing a good enforcable set of rules and a tech guy who knows what there doing.

You mean the same lawsuit Gordon Gundecker publicly said was dead and not going anywhere? Why doesn't this surprise me.
