Benton, Mo; UMP Late Model Driver Rodney Melvin of Logan, Illinois came to the Auto Tire and Parts NAPA Racepark Wednesday night and left with the money. Melvin drove an impressive race and took the main event honors in the evenings 25 Lap Late Model Feature. The Wednesday night program was halted for one and half hours because of rain. When the rain stopped and the track crew got the surface back into shape the track became a very fast "bull pen" arena. Melvin who took top honors in the Late Model Division was followed by Ed Dixon, Brian Wolfmeier, Jim Morrison, and Billy James rounded out the top five. In the UMP Modified Division Rich Whaler found himself in victory lane followed by Chris Hall, Brent Thompson, Kenny Schrader, and Scott Riggs. The Pure Street Class which put on a very good show for the fans was once again won by Dietrich Bollinger of Benton, Missouri. The Team of Herron/Bailey returned back to the winners circle by winning the Cruiser Main Event for the evening. Racing action will resume at ATPR this Saturday night August 16th when the Outlaw Wing Sprints will return along with the UMP Modified, Pure Street, and Cruisers.
