BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- Big River Sand Drags will host the inaugural Midwest Nationals this Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 3-4) with racers from all over the Midwest expected to be participating.
"This is the first time we decided to host the event," said track public relations director Jeff Mills. "Earlier this year we hosted the Missouri Open Invitational and then later the Pepsi Summer Sizzler and both were very successful. We expect more of the same this weekend with the Midwest Nationals."
There will be nine classes of vehicles racing, including four classes of ATVs (Super Pro ATV, Pro ATV, ATV-1 and Junior ATV). The vehicle classes include Open 4x4, Competition Eliminator, Off Road Modified, Stock Buggy and Vehicle ET.
Gates will open at 3 p.m. on Saturday with time trials beginning at 4 p.m., registration ends at 6 with racing at 7. On Sunday the gates open at 1 p.m. with racing at 4 p.m. For more information on the Midwest Nationals phone (573) 358-5009 or visit www.bigriversanddrags.com

I hear ya Hillbilly. I have been struggling with the decision on go or not to go all week. Christ, with the price of gas, its going to be costly just to get there, let alone the other expenses. I should be there as well. I hate to say it, but I am kind of glad racing season is almost over. Maybe by next spring things will have settled down a bit and we can put a little more of what used to be expendable cash back where it belongs. I hope we have a good turnout with all that is going on right now. Cya bud!
