(Warrensburg, MO) Modified drivers continue their preparations for the Sixth Annual Tom Wilson 4th of July weekend special feature events this Saturday night on Comfort Inn, Warrensburg Station Race Night with all four weekly race divisions. CMS track owners, Earl and Susan Walls made a surprise announcement late Saturday afternoon increasing the weekly modified payout prior to last weekends’ racing events. Modified drivers were pleased to hear about the increase in starting pay which solidifies Central Missouri Speedway as the leading track for modified racing in the area. Payout for feature finishing positions ten through twenty four were increased to assist with rising costs for racing teams. The $1,000 to win purse for the weekly feature continues and now includes at least $160 to start.

Last weekend more than 30 modified drivers produced another night of thrilling racing action on the clay oval high-banks with points leader, Aaron Marrant from Orrick taking the checkers for his first feature win in 2009. There have been seven different drivers in victory lane in the modified division at CMS this year. Tim Karrick, who won a feature earlier this season, maintains the second spot in the points championship battle with Dean Wille, Jason Thompson and James McMillin all within 38 markers of each other in the top five. Ed Griggs also climbed into the top ten with his first top-five finish this season.

Local race fans have witnessed some exhilarating racing in ULMA late model division since making their return to the track last month. Last Saturday, Steve Clancy became the fifth winner taking the coveted checkered flags during the past five weeks of late model action. Kevin Coyne, a former track champion from Kingsville, leads the late model points with three top five finishes this season. Jon Binning, the 2008 track champion, is only four points behind him in second place with Randy Ainsworth, Steve Clancy and Robbie Test, the overall ULMA points leader, within striking distance of the leader in the top five.

The street stock drivers continue their quest to beat Brain Johnson of Independence in the top spot who owns four feature wins this year including another visit to victory lane last weekend. Michal Mullins with five top-five finishes has been challenging with several consistent runs and as a result is in second place just 38 points behind Johnson. The remaining top-five continue to make strong runs including Nic Bennett, Chad Eickleberry and John Ebert. Tammy Korff had a season high fifth-place finish during the feature last weekend after leading seven laps despite battling some mechanical problems.

The b-modified division includes several young drivers producing some thrilling action during the weekly races. Higginsville driver, Jeremy Lile won his first feature last weekend becoming the fifth winner in this division during the 2009 season. Jacob Ebert from Oak Grove who is the current points leader has two feature wins. Ethan Isaccs won his first feature several weekends ago and is just 28 points behind Ebert in second place. Brian Ziegler, Michael King and Chris Brockway round out the remaining top five. The b-modified drivers are making improvements on their cars each week in preparation for the upcoming RSC Equipment Rental special feature events in July.

Advanced ticket sales have begun for the Sixth Annual Tom Wilson Memorial BBQ Bowl, which will take place on Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th. Fans can save on grandstand admission by purchasing a special two-day pass.
