Montgomert motorsports park attn: Street stock / sportsman racers

Hi ,

We have been asked many times to race this type of car at our track !

Well heres your chance this Saturday 6/16/2012 we will try out this class we will need to work out some class rules to keep this class competitive for every one !
We are willing to take this effort with a good car count so if you really want to race her you need to show the support that this class will need with a good car count and we can go forward from there with establishing a good set of rules to keep the playing field level !

Thanks
Casey Pearson

Any questions please call 636-566-6880 or 314-280-2525

Whts the payout gonna be? I believe with your post your gonna mix em all together, then go from there on finding a base for some good rules right? I wish you the best and thanks for giving it a try.

I feel that probably the greatest challenges facing a class like this are number 1, enforcing the rules. A knowledgeable and thorough tech person is an absolute must. Someone who knows and understands engines, cars and what devices are being used to limit performance such as carburetion, displacement and cylinder head modifications along with modifications to items which are clearly stated as having to remain OEM.

The second challenge I'd say would be to resist the "rules creep" which tends to happen in a "budget" class over time where gradually more and more expensive hardware is allowed to be used. This can clearly be seen in the modified class as well as the Sportsman class in some areas.

Get these things right and you could have a Sportsman class that flourishes over time instead of wasting away. The Allied Sportsman rules make a lot of sense and are very well thought out. Overall I'd say that if the cars followed them to the letter it could be a good and economical class especially if you put them on some sort of tire that has good life.

One more thing that would be very helpful is to have a tech department that gives a clear and concise answer to any tech question not an asshat response like, "this isn't NASCAR" or, "this ain't my first rodeo"....

This post needs to be framed and hung on the wall at every track! JMHO..:)

I fully agree all of the beginner or transition classes are so far out of hand that you can not draw a good car count at any track !!!
and like it has been stated it is so hard to start up a class because you would have to have guys build cars for those rules it would be a great class to race in with limited suspension rules and hard tires or GOD FORBID radial street tires with a road hazzard cheap option ??? I won a street stock championship racing against hoosier dirt stocker on radial tires with a road hazzard warranty saved me tons of money on tires.
I would allow weight jacks as this would teach set ups for the the next classes they may go to why make someone work so hard to set up a car that is what these classes are for LEARNING right they do not need berts quick change rear ends. a steel headed 355 CI. gauge legal 500 holley carb.
stock steel flywheel single disc clutch or automatic with stock torq convertor ford nine inch floater ok plenty of those around now cheap ????
this could be a very competitive class and very affordable to any one that wants to race most all of this can be done with junk yard parts ???

just my opinion we need to take racing back to the grass roots and introduce more people to it as it is a dying sport and becoming a big money operation and taking the fun out of it and driving away potential new drivers and owners !!

Good luck to all .

Thanks

Frame this one,too......"Rules Creep" started in the SS class at Highland around 1990,not letting up anywhere else, either JMO! :)

Give it up already... This class ain't gonna happen there cause your not gonna be drawing cars with that mind set..

I agree....but your basically making yet another class of street stocks with different rules. I like your thinking as far as the rules but I think you either have to go with UMP Sreet Stocks, the TCS pure stocks or the allied fall nationals rules or you'll never get enough cars.

I used to run a sportsman at pevely and moved to the pure stock class because it's a lot cheaper and a class that I believe will be strong in the future. So I recommend going with the same rules or at least te ump street stock rules.

Casey, you are right on with those rules. I hope to see this type of set up and MMP next year. I for one will have 1 car maybe 2 with that type of rules package. Its a shame more tracks don't have the same mind set as you. If given the time to grow this class could be the biggest class this track would have. What are you thoughts on payout? 250 to win 50 to start? I think the TCS cars would fit into this package pretty well so therefore you could draw cars from there as well. Lets all get out there and support this track. With what Casey has done and said this is going to be the best place to be on Saturday nights!

montgomery motorsports park Attn ALL streetstock or sportsman drivers/owners

I just hung up with Casey. Here is the deal... We need everyone interested in running there in a streetstock or sportsman, to show up (with your car if possible) this Sat. We need to figure out how to make all the cars that show up competitive with each other. I know we can't make it the first week but we have to show up quickly and be as professional about this as we can. After the interest is proven we can all decide what we want the rules to be for next year.

I think by adding weight, tires, clutches, etc., we can get all these cars on a level playing field. I know this week will look all messed up but we need you there for input. If you don't show up, don't complain! We will discuss it Saturday. If you can get there early, that would be even better.

We want all of the people interested!!!! It doesn't matter what your car has now. This is the only chance to get this going!!!

We need more than 6 or 7 cars. So please show up. I will bring extra weight that we can try on my car to make it more equal if we decide. I have A's, H's, and D's mounted, so lets figure it out!!!

See you sat.!

Hope you guys get it figured out.....I won't be able to make it with my car although I would love to race at the MMP some time. I'm trying to support I-55 as much as possible right now since they added our class of cars as well.

Good luck!

Post the dam payout... You think someone wants to drag there car all the way down there to find out.. oh were just paying a $100 till we see how its gonna turn out..

i will try and be there bringing true pure stock-- springfield mo ,dallas co, midway speedway style pure stocks is the way to go very affordable want to control motors put them on 1 1/2 exhaust outlet just some thoughts theres alot of ole race cars setting around that you could put a cheap motor in and hav some [fun] hell if u want to spend a fortune theres already plenty of those classes out there!! no matter what the econmy is good or bad there is still working peaple that can only spend so much!

i agree with most of you. For this year we need to find a way for anyone that has a car to be competitive. I like the idea of stock clutches and flywheels, gauge legal 500, we all can add 2" down tips, hard tires or even radials like casey said but, we need this year to start with. I would love to see you there mopar7x!!!

Also, The problem I see with Allied rules, there are so many engine rule they can't possibly police them. example( stock weight crankshaft) who is going to take this out and let them weight it?
We don't need to have rules that can't be checked. Just remember KISS.

I know if we put our heads together Saturday, not knock them together, we can figure out something!! Show up with an open mind!!

Payout $$$

Dirt Boy I see why every one wants to beat your AZZ your like a little old lady calm down and take your vitamins big boy !

Thanks
Casey Pearson

Lol welcome to the promoter world... You run tcs, highland, belle claire and pevely style rules and your gonna have better luck. All your doing is asking for a nightmare with what you gonna try. I've told you once and i'll say it again... I know teams that are ready to run there if you pay em good like you do the other classes. Mixing em is stupid... The sportmans are obsolete and are gonna be a class of the past. If your just trying to make kool aid money just start selling beer... Jmo good luck and better get u some more pain meds cause i know your going home with a headache every night... Lol

PAY ATTENTION DIRT BOY !!!!!

So Dirt Boy you call all those teams that are ready and tell them we are racing this saturday give them my number to call me
