Montgomery County Speedway to open again???

The two best anouncers in the area are scotty cook and Doug mealy both know most local guys and have a lot of knowlege about dirt racing

if this happens, leave the B mod class as it was when it wasa shut down. it was the only class that still had a good car count. Dont open up the carburetor rule like it is at Callaway, youd just be giving a few guys a big advantage that already have gauge legal carbs sitting on the shelf.

Whats the timeline on this? possibly late this year? or are you looking at next year?

Idk mike I personaly don't wanna have to change carbs from track to track ...I think it would scare cars off like it did at lake ozark .....keep same rules so its less work on Saturday

As far as changes to the track it will be about 25 ft longer and a little wider with a lot less bank making it a lot racier for the drivers and a better show for the fans where it is not a follow the leader type of track where the drivers will be able to move around on the track and still be competitive in multiple grooves on the track at the same time.

Ive got about a hundred hours of racing footage from there and these sorta conditions have never been much of an issue in its current configuration in my opinion. I liked the top groove and bottom groove required a different set up to optimize speed and momentum. What it meant was if you were a little off the mark on your set up than changing grooves made a very significant difference to your car. I think that encourages car set up and driver style to have a much bigger impact than say a very long track that's narrow and momentum is the biggest factor in the outcome. It's nice to have a configuration that allows a driver to make a mistake and still make up for it instead of that mistake costing so much time that can't be made up. I would encourage Casey P. to consider leaving it the way is is sans the outer wall needs to be a higher or the dirt cut down to expose it like it was in it's third and fourth year of operation. Years of racing and track prep has moved the dirt up too far. Count me in for attending as a racer. I vote for A+B Mods, UMP or ULMRA Lates, street stocks and Four Cylinder Hornets with Mod-Lites visiting and a 360 sprint show. I will also volunteer my time to help making it ready. PM or call 573 823 7665 if you like.

opening up the carb rule at the lake DEFINATELY didnt help car counts. Im going to be respectfull and just leave LOS alone on this one, lol

You would pull limited late models from Callaway and some of the guys that used to race at Warrensburg with us.

Amods, Bmods, Limited Lates and sportsman. Also, bring back the Ministocks! A bunch of the guys we raced with in the ministocks up there still have their cars!

biker6403 if it does open you would like the track. It just wasnt run right before. I just hope the same mistakes dont happen again. MCS had good car counts at one time. Over Labor Day that track was hoppin!!

It would be awesome to be able to run closer to home. As far as classes go I think as long as the promoters and the people running the track does a good job they can run any classes they want and still have a good car count, take care of your racers and they will come back. I would just worry about the pleasing the fans, so run the classes you feel the fans will most enjoy.

I agree with the track configuration change making it longer and cutting the banking and also need more lighting the backstrech is dark.

Leave the length alone. Cut some of the banking out and move the pole (inside boundary) back to where it was in 2001 and 2002. Run the same classes as always. It may take a season but the place can be rockin again. Did someone buy the property, or just lease it?

Everyone keeps complaining about how it was run. It was only the last year or two that it stopped being racer and fan friendly. The first couple of years it was great. The only track I've been to where the owner would call during the week and thank you for being there.

We stopped going there when they started handing out light payouts at the end of the night. Suppose that was just a symptom of the underlying disease and not the ailment itself. Wasn't long thereafter that they closed.

this could be great news,,open the track,,,cars will come. especially B mods,,, race cars will bring fans & revenue.,why not use an eyesore for that...this might be a win win,, for Montgomery County.
