Montgomery county speedway !

Guess it depend who you know. People in the middle of the state know different racers. Mcs is only 30 miles from the middle of the state. And 60mi from stl. And ULMA does get into the national mags. Many have ran MLRA, MARS, and NCRA. Why feel they need stl stars to make a difference. Keep em in ur town.

I know how far MCS is from various places in the state, I did ask for some names of the drivers from the west that are saying they will race there if the sanction is to their advantage.
I never said a thing about St. Louis stars making a difference, but I did ask who the western "stars" are.
As far as keeping any stars in my town I don't think that will happen as we have no race track!!!!
The reason I asked any of these questions is they will need fans and if no one recognizes the drivers names it's not likely the track will be very successful and I for one would like to see it succeed!!!

People say I'm getting crankier as I get older. That's not it. I just find I enjoy annoying people a lot more now. Especially younger people!!!

Who do you consider a star? What the pro ULMA guys are saying is your so called stars are not going to leave tracks that they have been running for years.ULMA gives the late model class a chance, split them in 2 with UMP sanction you have to draw cars way from STL.Run ULMA rules the crates can run with a weight break.Crates win plenty in ULMA.

Now we're back to my question, who are these western drivers that are planning to race at MCS? I see the number 12 given but what are some of the names I might recognize?
If fans aren't familiar with the drivers names it's doubtful they will attend on a regular basis.
All racers want to race but not all fans want to watch races where there aren't drivers they know.
Well it's getting late and I need to get an early start in the morning, QC needs a new front seal and I think I'll change the trans, so I'll leave ya'll for now and maybe by later today some of the western "star" names will come to mind!!!

Night all.

i am not a star nor do i claim to be and i can say the same for most That run ulmathat they are racing for fun.If your looking to watch stars stay home and watch a boring race on Sunday afternoon. If you wanna go see i guy who worked a real job and busted his *** all week on his racecar compete then go to your local track.

New fans coming to a track opened back up after 2 1/2 years running different classes than before wont recognise the name of any "star" driver anyway. Your local fans are your base, you cant expect people to drive 1 hour or more to watch a weekly race.

I think the class plan is odd too, but hese done his reaserch, maybe he has it right? dunno. Hard to picture MCS without sportsmans though

Go to ULMA website and look at points and see who we are.
I dont give names on forums, good thing about internet is you can research it yourself.
And The Quincy deal is what it is, as far as the guys from that area that have ran ULMA, there were 3-4 over the past 2 years I know of. A couple have competed very hard for the Championship. IMCA cars are Legal in ULMA but not vice a versa. And no doubt some will come down to run at MCS, I look forward to running with them. As long as the tire deal is worked out it should be good.
My concern is last time MCS ran UMP Supers and Crates the counts were in the single digits, ULMA combines them and keeps engine costs down. Would keep payout down too.
Main plus for UMP is in order for it to work, payout will have to be good to draw. That I am very happy about. I am not at all intimidated running my limited car with opens, what I am afraid of is the other ULMA cars that are intimidated. They might not even try, or give up after a week or two.
I ran Open Lates and used my limited car as a backup about 7 times and always did good. Did that when I ran Fulton on Fridays and I44 on Saturdays, I honistly didnt think my limited car could do well at Lebanon but to my suprise in those 7 races I never finished worse than 7th. And finished the season 3rd in points at I44!
Might even run Quincy now, we will see? Couldnt do that with my ULMA car till now, just glad they are anything but IMCA.

Can honestly say, I'm a little disappointed with the decision of not having a sportsman/street stock racing class. We were so excited to hear about MCS reopening and looking forward to making it our "home track" again! Right now we travel 3 hrs every Friday to Fulton to race with 2 cars. This year we could possibly have a 3rd car, with the hopes of cutting our drive time in half! I understand that 3 cars don't make a class, but I know of at least 10 other drivers, who have raced here previously, that have been looking forward to this track reopening and getting the "racing family" back together! We have always enjoyed the atmosphere at MCS! We are ready for the high-fiving, great fun, competitive racing!

zeke, I haven't watched a Sunday race in years and I do go to local tracks and both watch and race, in fact I have probably raced more times this year than many reading this board.
westling, I really don't need to look any of this up, as I'm sure I'd not be familiar with any of them. My side of the conversation is not so much about "stars" as about fans being able to associate with drivers and a sanctioning body they are aware of.
What I'm saying is I think Casey has chosen some good classes to start with and with some tweaking along the way he will have a great place for fans and racers, alike.

Good luck.

Oh, by the way, has anyone read my signature line?
Seems to be working!!!!

Glad to hear the track is going to reopen. I hope you guys can find a way to let the Sportsman cars run again but we'll see how that shakes out during the season. I hope to make a few shows once I return in September. Best of Luck to Casey and all his gang on making MCS a vibrant racing facility once again.

This sounds like it could possibly be an easy fix Casey. The Crates are competetive against the ULMA Late Models and with the support the track could receive with ULMA Late Models, why not have the Supers and ULMA Late Models. This would allow all three types of Late Models in the area to race at your track. It sounds to me you have a lot of support for the Sportmans also so it would be interesting to see if you could get them into your program as well. Good luck racing this year and I wish all the success for you and your crew.

Classes and Rules

The tire and engine rules here, need to be as common as possible to maximize car counts and fans.......:cool::cool:
