Several Late Model drivers here at Macon have reported Casey called them to say that Montgomery was dropping Super Late Models.

They contacted all the late model guys today super and crate the word is no more late models at all claimed it cost 8000 to run them and they aren't bringing the money in

now why would a track drop a class if it has a good following
OH Hound think I said that the late models were NOT your #1 class in the Pevely post. This just go't to show you some promoters would rather save the cash and use it in other places if things were not working out. Better to cut the high paying class and see if you can keep the place open with a smaller payout class. Maybe the other classes will grow now.

No beer and no late models equals track will not survive. I believe if they make it until
the end of the season I'll be surprised. Me and my buddy will not be back. It's back
to Pevely.

I agree , latemodels put people in the stands ! They were a averaging 18 cars a night . That's as much or more than most tracks in the stl area ! I do believe the first time that Monkey city started goin down hill is when Mel dropped the latemodel class ! Hopefully they can still make it !

no I have not to tell you the truth but I do read what people are saying and see the results. You don't haft to go to the races anymore since the power of the internet tells you all you need to know and some post some races. I can see the car count falling off every where. Now tell me the truth is it as much fun for you to go see the same guys finish in the same spots week after week. Racing dirt was so much more fun back in the day. Now it's all about money and if you don't have it then park your late model because you don't have a chance. Really who loves to race for 2nd? I'm sorry I'm not trying to bash the late models I love em its just it is the same old drivers every where you go finishing just about in the same spot. And yes it's the same in just about every class. The only fun going to the races anymore is seeing who pisses off who and gets punted and put in the wall. Im just saying since you dropped the late models try giving some of there money to other classes and see if they grow. In this day and age people can not just go build a late model. Maybe thay can build a pro 4 or SS for less.

Hay hound since they dropped the late model class how about adding a few hundred from there class to the mods? And see if that class can become the #1 class. Why dose everyone thing the late models are god? I see great racing in almost every class

Like I said in a earlier post when they first talked about opening... Make it past mid season and there lucky!!!

And I was considering making my 1st trip there this Saturday. However, if they are not running late models, then I won't be going there.

18 cars in any class is a good car count in today's economy. They should have done the math and based layoffs on about 15-18 cars in today's world. You won't see 20+ fields in much of anything. Especially the first year, when you don't post results, track write ups, or post pictures. Heck it was extremely rough then heard it was improving some but not much info on how it was improving.

Supers are an expensive class and they sat out with an aggressive pay scale.

If I were the promotors I would either cut the late model pay if I cannot afford it or cut the class to every other week at a reduced purse. Dumping the whole class burns bridges, look at overly and streets, guys tend not to go back when their class is added back.

More important than payout though, get a track pr guy, like ulma has Sam. Get a write up done weekly with full results, what happened, pictures in it. Then post on every forum on the Internet. Get the word out about your track.

Super lates are a tough weekly show, but there are many options.

1. Have the mlra come, or mars series a few times a year.
2. Have a ulma points special for $1200 to win like Moberly used to.
3. Have a few $1000 to win mod or street stock specials, when you don't have a late model or other high payout class. How many tracks have $1000 to win street special? Do 2 a year.

Having a mix of touring shows and other class specials will bring in more cars on those nights, but also it will bring in fans, fans love a good special.
