Warrensburg, MO The smooth clay oval track at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) is once again the hot topic of discussion with some of the best dirt track drivers in the mid-west. The ‘mighty’ Modifieds, Street Stocks and B-Modifieds proved beyond a doubt why race fans like to watch racing at CMS. The fans were treated to three thrilling feature events with many of the modified drivers preparing for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend Hooters -Street Stock $1500 to win special event on May 22 along with a $3000 to win Modified feature on May 23.

Both modified features produced two first-time race winners with Jim Moody from Odessa for his first trip to victory lane in the Modified division this season. The night started with Chris Brockway of Warrensburg making a last lap pass around Jacob Ebert to earn his first-ever feature win in the B- Modified class. In the highly competitive Street Stock feature event, Terry Schultz made it difficult for Chad Eickleberry from Warresnburg who finally prevails for his second feature win of the year.

The B-Modifieds continued a strong showing with 25 cars registered for three heat races with Jacob Ebert, Chris Brockway and John Brooks taking the heat wins. In the feature event Brockway leads early with Ebert and Brooks battling for the second spot. Brockway had to slow down in turn two to avoid a wreck and loses his lead. Ebert now in the top spot focuses on keeping his position while Brooks battles for second and briefly takes the position away from Brockway. Brian Ziegler also enters the fray, but has mechanical problems with his car at the end of the race and is forced to leave the track. Brooks has a tough break with problems on the track in front of him late in the race and he is forced into the infield then re-starts at the tail end of the field. The field bunches up with the only caution flag of the race for the green, white, checkered flag finish. This gives Brockway now in the second spot a chance to make his move and he works the low side in turn four to pass Ebert for his first-ever feature win. Ebert hangs on to second, Lucas Isaacs third, his brother,Ethan Isaacs fourth and Bronson Combs fifth.

The Street Stock feature produces a memorable race with the fans standing and cheering on Terry Shultz after he starts at the tail end of the 14 car feature event to battle for the lead. Eickleberry and Brain Johnson win the heat races setting up the front row of the feature. Eickleberry starts up front and takes the early lead, but it was not long until Brian Johnson starts applying pressure on the high side of the track to challenge for the top spot. Eickleberry stays out front but in the mean time Schultz starts to pick off positions and moves up to add to the excitement. Schultz is able to move past Johnson on lap seven and now sets his sights on Eickleberry. Eickleberry and Schultz run a good clean race with Schultz attempting to pass him on the high side most of the time, but Eickleberry hangs on for his second victory this season with Schultz in a close second, Johnson finishes with a solid third, Michael Mullins fourth and Nick Bennett finishes out the top five.

The Modifieds were 25 strong tonight with some new drivers testing the smooth clay high-banks at CMS. The three heat race winners included Jim Moody, Dean Wille and Tim Karrick. Wille leads the field of modifieds early on with Moody moving his machine into some side by side action to battle for the lead. Moody finally uses the low side on lap three to move into the top spot. Karrick also starts to make some noise along with Dennis Walrath battling in the top four positions. Several cautions cause a mid-race slow down with several drivers making moves up to the front. Aaron Marrant made several low side passes into the top five along with Dave Meyer. Late in the race Walrath passes Karrick on the low side for second. In the end, Moody takes the double checkers for his first feature win this year. Walrath has a strong finish in second, Karrick settles for third, Meyer fourth, and Aaron Marrant in fifth. Ed Griggs from Pleasant Hill wins the hard-charger award of the night by finishing ninth after a 19th place starting position.
