Auto Club Speedway is about 50 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and has grandstand seating for more than 90,000 fans. Only about half of those seats were used Sunday.

Gillian Zucker, the track , said she has received no indication that the Fontana, Calif., track could lose one of its two Cup race dates to Kansas Speedway. Attendance has been disappointing for the track in the Los Angeles market, one of the nation's largest.

I REST MY CASE!

Yeah are we finally done with this whole glamor of Calf thing. One race is fine but obviously two is too many.Like most of there sporting teams after a while they just don't care. Not having a NFL team should be an obvious sign that two Nascar dates wont work. There are a few places that would easily fill the stands for a race so lets hope we can leave this place soon and give another race track a shot at filling the stands.

Don't forget the race at Infineon. Talk about market saturation. They eliminated a race at Darlington for California and it has paid them back accordingly.

They should've stayed at Darlington,Rockingham(A personal favorite)and North Wilkesboro!!! It's all about the $$$$$,screw the fans.:(

I have been to Auto Club Speedway, it is a boring track, has no personalty. The race is better on TV and that’s not saying much. They should take the grandstands from Fontana move them to Irwindale Speedway (1/2 mile paved oval) that would be much better. The best racing in the area is on the 1/2 dirt of Perris Auto Speedway. Wingless sprints and stock cars a great show, packs the house. Sling that dirt!

I've said it before and now it seems to be true. When money is the most important reasoning in your decision making, you undermine the foundation on which you stand. Giving Fontana two races was simply done because at the time things were good, the market size was big and they could fit more people in the place. That equals more $money$!!! Switching that race on the holiday weekend a few years back from Darlington to Fontana was a horrible decision made simply by greed. Darlington is one of the most historic and exciting tracks Nascar has, and those folks down there support(ed) it well.

Then the influx of tracks in new regions, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just they were all the same type of track. None of them were like Daytona, Talladega, Bristol or Martinsville. One with a unique design that was good for competitive side by side racing. Nascar has aligned it self right beside all the other major sports. It all about the dollar. But at least the others didn't water themselves down to the point their product wasn't even entertaining anymore. There is an old saying..."too much of a good thing". It seems Nascar never heard that. The France family might ought to think about finding someelse to run the show. The two family members doing it now have run it into the ground with their dumb decision making.

It just goes to show the state they're in when a good looking lady joining the Nationwide and ARCA series is the biggest news you have.

I can at least say those over paid hacks aren't getting rich on my dime. I will watch races that are at entertaining tracks, but other than that I'll just wait for the results to be posted.

How true Pitdrifter, when the times were good it did make sence to race on a track that holds more fans but now that the times are bad I say go back to the short tracks. The races seem to be more fun with a full infield and grandstand. Darlington was a great track and I had a ton of fun on the infield. Went to Indy on year and the infield is so big it is too large to see the whole place. Now there is a track they need to take off the schedule heck you cant even see the whole track without a tv. I can stay home and watch it on tv. And like you say "take a nap" :)

I miss racing!

I think one of the big things that make me so negative about NASCAR is that I feel cheated. At one time racing was my life! I never missed a NASCAR race for years. My Sunday was planned around watching the race and not missing a lap. I just hate it after all these years that something that was a BIG part of my life is now a big joke. It makes me angry!!!!!

I hear ya' Dennis. I just think you can expand or another words grow too fast. I also think straying too far from your roots is bad. We all know what Nascar was built on. Seems they distance themselves from it more and more. We as fans can't even relate to the cars they drive nowdays. For christ sake, they have to have a cut away car to clue us in. :D I've said it before and I'll say it again, Nascar's product SUX!!!

They could care less about roots or traditions, just treat the long time fans like some old dog that smells and is not allowed in the house anymore.

My god man like NASCAR or not have you see what the winnings are after only 2 races? Heres a clue;
Jamie McMurry 1,704,940.00
Dale Jr. 1,225,900.00 and add the nation wide series @ 46,660.00
Allgaier in the Nation Wide Series 99,946.00

Last place in points in cup is paying (56th) Jeff Fuller 21,920.00
All after only 2 races
My God I'm in the wrong job.
Come on Bryan last place will feed us good. Lets get busy

that race normaly ****s it one of the cookie cutters

how about give one to iowa
I agree that California is usually a boring race but it's not one of the 1 1/2 mile cookie cutters. Nascar is also feeling the economy but I'll have to admit that in the last 4 or 5 years it isn't nearly as important to me as it used to be. Give me a good super late model race and I'll be happy now days.

Alot of Nascars problems was they got to be to proud of their product ! We used to go several races a year now we can only afford 1 race a year! The corporate world really stuck with them didn't they ? And the average redneck can't afford it anymore. We are going to Bristol in a few weeks Sundays tickets were 90 something a piece. Then throw in Sat and Friday that adds up. Plus we stay at a camp grounds and they are 260.00 with no electric or water just basic size ! Then you throw in the worse part the gas to tow to and from ! Yep the real redneck race fan has been priced out of the circle !

I hear ya' Lisa! The cooperate world isn't filling those bleacher seats anyway. They were up in the suites in the ac. Why can't the big shots of the world realize the little guys make the world go round? When things are good for the little guy, it's usually going good for everyone. I mean come on, there are more of us! :D

Hay dirtgirl bring that redneck trailer to the round up and hang with the rest of us rednecks. the cost is almost the same since we can afford MORE boozzzzz not traveling so far away. Enjoy Bristol that is the only NASCAR track I would not care how much it cost or who won because it is easy to "PUNT" a driver into the wall. HA HA HA HA Heck your lucky to even run the whole race.
