Warrensburg, MO The smooth clay oval track at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) is attracting some of the best drivers in the mid-west and this Saturday night will be another special night for local dirt track racing. The ‘mighty’ Modifieds, Street Stocks and B-Modifieds will be on the track to begin their weekly quest for the coveted feature event double checkered flags. Track owner Susan Walls in conjunction with Lowes of Warrensburg will add a special touch to the Saturday night races with flowers for Mom. The first fifty mothers to enter either grandstand entrance will receive a free flower.

The races last weekend became a night filled with fast paced racing with new drivers from several Missouri and Kansas tracks preparing for the Memorial Day Modified and Street Stock special events. Many of the area tracks closed last weekend due to wet weather, but mother-nature cooperated and the track dried off for some action packed racing at CMS. Dean Machinery from Sedalia assisted by providing a tractor to aid with track preparation which was vital to packing in new clay surface.

A new driver to CMS, Jamie Ragland from Lebanon claimed the checkers for the first time at CMS in the modified class and he said he plans to return for some future events. Brad Smith of Belton was strong in his feature race with the B-Modifieds to win his fourth feature of the season, each at a different track. Brain Johnson, a weekly racer at the track enters victory lane for the first time this season in the highly competitive Street Stock division.

The early season races are just a prelude to a season filled with Saturday dirt-track racing action as well as fun for the race fans and families throughout the year. Pit gates will swing open this Saturday evening at 4:30 with the grandstands entrances opening at 5, hot-laps at 7 and racing on the track at 7:30. Central Missouri Speedway is located just 4 miles north of Warrensburg off of Hwy 13 or 12 miles south of the I-70 Higginsville exit.
