Because of this weekend’s inclement weather with high temperatures forecast to be below the freezing mark on Saturday, PIR Officials have cancelled the initial pre-season practice session scheduled for Saturday, March 8.

Competitors will still have an opportunity to prepare their machines for the 2008 racing season during the practice session scheduled for Saturday, March 22 from 12 to 4 PM.

Pit admission for the March 22 session will be $15. For everyone entering the Pit Area under the age of 18, Minor Releases signed by a biological parent or court-appointed legal guardian will be required.

The Grandstands will be open for the March 22 practice. Admission is free. Concessions will be available.

The 2008 racing season will officially begin Friday evening, March 28 with an appearance of NASCAR stars Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader. They both will compete in the PIR Late Model division. A full program of Late Model, Modified, Crate Late Model, Street Stock, and Warrior racing is on tap for the Opening Night.

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of Co-Owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. Paducah International Raceway races every Friday night and is located off Interstate 24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky. For more information call the PIR hotline at (270) 448-4PIR or the track at (270) 898-SHOW (7469). Check out the PIR Website at www.paducahinternationalraceway.com or www.paducahracing.com.
