Mother Natures puts damper on I-55 Raceway's Season Opener!

Pevely, MO (March 31, 2007) I-55 Raceway officials were forced to pull the plug on opening night scheduled for Saturday, March 31st due to excessive rain on Friday afternoon and evening.

Racing is scheduled to resume next Saturday, April 7th when the Red Baron Pizza World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series presented by Surdyke Harley-Davidson along with U.M.P. DirtCar Modifieds paying $1,000 to win take to the track. Pit gate opens at 2pm, Modified hotlaps at 4pm, Modified heat races at 4:30pm, sprint car hotlaps at 6:15pm, sprint car qualifying at 6:45pm and sprint car racing at 7:30pm. Reserved seating is $32. General admission is $30 with kids 12 and under free in general admission seats.

On June 2nd, Automotive Lodge 777 Machinist Union presents the Tri-Track Challenge which features one of three consecutive nights of racing for the U.M.P. DirtCar Late Models that features big money along with a bonus for any driver that can win two or three events.

The first of two mid-week specials will be on Wednesday, June 13th with a special NASCAR night with $2000 to win U.M.P. DirtCar Late Models, $2,000 to win Winged Sprints & O'Reilly POWRi Midgets - Featuring a Red Baron Pizza Squadron flyover with registration to win a ride in one of the Red Baron Pizza airplanes. Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will both be racing. Kenny Wallace book signing!

The next special will be Saturday, June 23rd when I-55 Raceway host U.M.P. Summer Nationals Series sponsored by Budweiser. The month long U.M.P. Summer Nationals Series features some of the top late models in the country battling the local super stars with a $10,000 top prize.

On July 7th, Red Baron Pizza once again presents the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series.

An event that has become a tradition at I-55 Raceway over the last few years, on July 14th Shop N Save presents Race Night for Special Champions to benefit the Special Olympics. WIL 92.3 FM will also have local radio personalities on hand. $5,000 to win U.M.P. DirtCar Late Models, $1,200 to win U.M.P. DirtCar Modifieds, $500 to win U.M.P. DirtCar Sportsman & U.M.P. DirtCar Pro 4 Stocks! The charity event raises money for the Special Olympics.

The second mid-week show rolls into I-55 Raceway on Wednesday, July 25th. This event has become recognized around the country as one of the biggest events to come out and see the some of the top NASCAR drivers on the dirt track. The M&M NASCAR Night of Stars will feature many top NASCAR drivers that will sign autographs and then compete in U.M.P. DirtCar Modifieds in head-to-head competition with each other. Once again, this event also raise money for various racing related charities.

The U.M.P. DirtCar Late Models and Mid-America Racing Series Late Models will go head-to-head on August 25th. This event will bring together many late model stars from the Midwest and surrounding areas!

One of I-55 Raceway's premier events is held on September 15th when Pepsi presents the I-55 Raceway Pepsi Nationals. The World of Outlaw 360 OTC Late Model Series will roll into town to battle with all the local late model stars.

The AARA Fall Nationals for Sportsman, Pure Stocks and Pro-4's take to the track on October 6th. This event is quickly growing into one of the biggest events around the country for these divisions.
