FIREBALL

Well-Known Member
GOT A 6-AL box in my sportsman, have a MSD blaster coil that is fairly new, last night at hiland the car just quit and would not re-fire with a push, this morning it fired right up,this happened at macon last year..also i left the switch on and it would not start till the next day,,ANY IDEAS????

Had a similar problem last year. It never happened at the track but 3 times at the garage or while unloading the car. The car would die and not refire. I would swith out the ignition box with our spare one and it would fire right up. Put the 6AL back in and the car would start and run fine for about 2 or 3 weeks. It turned out to be the ring terminal on the solenoid for the power going to the MSD box. It was cracked inside of the shrink wrap around the crimp on the wire. If the full voltage or amps wasn't going through the connection the car wouln't fire(everthing else would work). Move the terminal a little and then it would fire right up.

Make sure you box is grounded to the battery and not the chassis. Use a wire that is 2 gauges bigger than what comes out of the MSD box.
