This is not set in stone yet. For the 05' season in MVN,we will only be running 6 UMP Late Model Shows in the 05' season. Steel Block LMS will be 750 to win, 75 to start, with a decent payoff all the way through. We will run ump mods,650 to win 75 to start,we will run mnvs class of hobby stock bombers, and 4 cyl hornets.
Let's hear your comments.
MT. Vernon MGMT.

Rules meeting for '05??

Is there going to be a rules meeting for next year or are the rules going to be the same?

Thanks!

Jeff

Let's see: We know I-55 will get some mods from Granite, and now they'll get LMs from MVN. That's going to be one h-ll of a show down there next year.
 :D

No weekly UMP LM's??

I personally think its a bad call(not running UMP LM's). Switch to Friday nights and let Flora go to Saturday nights(Flora got many cars when they ran on Saturday night). You'll get plenty of cars in all classes, cars will come from many places to race there, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri. Im pretty sure we would come there if u switched. Just a thought!!

Think you will do just fine w/ that one. From the looks of things there will be more Bombers for sure.Steel blocks gonna draw the same as reg. late mods will @ a cheaper cost. Bet' it would work!! Just an opinion . Thanks Ed

Yea, I dont see any problem with it. I like the better starting money, it will attact a few more outsiders. also, as long as our winners purse stays the same and no one has to worry about it, it'll be great. Hey, one of the best things you can do, would be to bank the top just a little bit more, move the tires up a little and play with it util you can consistently run two grooves. I love Mt. Vernon but that is probably the biggest gripe I hear from outsiders. I think you are goin the right way though, theres only one concern, I think you'll get the lm guys with steel motors, so it'll make everything tougher for the regulars that went to it as an escape from the big spenders, but thats how it goes. Hey, also looking for a car to drive a few times next year, might be able to furnish a few things, I'll be campaigning my new pierce mod after two seasons in steel block,
I won multiple features every year 5, 4, and also won the feature the first time I was ever in a lm in 02'. Drove for other owners the past two seasons and had fun, but I just wasnt gettin the exposure being limited to so few tracks, that I wanted. I CAN get the job done!!

Hey Sean2 , since when has Mt. Vernon made anything off of the front gate, stands have been dwindling the past few for a few reasons, dont get me wrong, I am good friends with Rodney Melvin, but there's just something to be missed when he wins all but 3 or 4 nights the whole year, because of mechanical problems at that, people just dont have an urge to go see because they know whats gonna happen. I believe there is some real excitement when it comes to the steel blocks though, consistent 20-25 cars, at least 12 different winners, Chuck Still, Doug Mandrell, Ray Emling, Brian Cockrum, Shane Cockrum, Danny Jolly, Kevin Cole, Brad Withinshaw, Eddie Pursell, Michael Kloos, Rick Issacs and probably more, NOW TELL ME THAT ISNT COMPETITIVENESS!! Thats a magnet for fans who want to see some racin.

Shane, you have a good point. :D

Just tryin to give credit where credit is do, steel block guys havent exactly been treated the best, because there is no sanction, but their all some hard runnin son- of- a- guns! Enjoyed every minute of it! Hey, how about the banquet?, will there still be a 10,000 point fund, we'll see.

100%

I agree with Shane 100% on the track comments. More banking and move the tires up. They really need two racing groove's. If Rick will stick to the 750 to win Steel block purse I think it will fly. I would say we would see some of last years LM's running steel block this year if it was the only option.

Hey Shane are you going Karting at Cole County speedway this Sunday!

Hey Eddie, I think everyones goin to the fairgrounds, they've got open practice Sunday in the arena. Should be alot of fun!!

I dont know about the fairgrounds deal there is a craft show there this weekend. We rented it two weeks ago but right after that they put all the dirt in there for the arena cross race and they don't have the arena cross taken down yet. I just talked to John Rednour III and that is what he told me.

Anyway one more suggestion for the Steel Block class. Since there will not be any LM guy's there for us to buy tires from, I would be really glad to see a 40 or 55 tire rule.

Is that right, huh , the craft deal is in the new arena right? let me know, If so its Coles County Bound! The Fastest 1/100th mile around!!!

The main reason why we quit running there was the 1 groove freight training. Alot of that had to do with the 2 classes of lm's. Would like to see that deal go in 2005. We will probably be there especially if there is 2 grooves. Love the track, love the crowd, and love the atmosphere, just needs a passable surface to race on.
