MUD IS THE ANSWER

All this talk about what happened to the fans and where did all the cars go it's one simple thing mud all you ever hear is anyone can win in the mud PERFECT that's what keeps fans and racers alike coming back all racers need to have some success whether if it was luck or skill to keep the motivation to put all there time and money into racing and most casual fans want to see balls out fast racing not let's see who is the fastest slow car MUD MUD MUD and more MUD

PREACH ON KERMIT did you get a new motor you would like to try out lol but yes we need a alot mud in our bud light again you know the kind that knocks your hat off kinda mud

Wearing the hat from a competitors vantage point I understand that dryslick black surfaces is less costly in some senses. But as a fan in the bleachers I agree a heavy track does entertain more. That is only my two cents worth on a thread sure to see responses

to semo dirt rocket some drivers to better when its tacky some drivers do better when its slick you have it a combo both sides can race like they want to

All the diehard racers and fans keep pointing at promoters or conditions. But simple fact is
ITS THE ECONOMY
Not just because people don't have money but what they spend it on. 20 years ago people didn't spend money on smart phones and the outrageous cost of cable or satellite TV. I spend over $300 a month, 20 years ago it might have been $40 for phone and tv.
The diehard's still go but the casual fan or even casual racer has gone away.
Also when gas prices skyrocketed in 2008 or so people didn't go anymore, some never came back, some found other things to enjoy.
Mud or dry has little to do with it But for some like me it either hurts or helps. It does take more money in the mud. If I felt I HAD to win to enjoy the sport I would have given up a long time ago. Being competitive is enough for me. And if I'm lucky I can win. Some wont race without having as much as the fastest. So they just don't race anymore.

well said plus demographics also plays a big part in my neighborhood I know of one other fan the rest could careless or don't even know it exist

I don't think you can pin point one certain thing that has caused the decline in attendance but, one thing we can all agree on its quite concerning. The cost has gotten out of hand for the racer that's for sure but, sometimes the
Racers themselves have caused that problem plus the lack of guidence form the sanction body. I will agree a poorly prepared race track can make for a boring night at the races but, we all have to admit we have seen some good races in the slick as well as in the tacky. I will also agree the economy is not helping but, let's face it it's not the sole reason in poor attendance as well so, we do we go from here.?

the decline in motorsports has alot to down with the young people now a days like ike the the non traditional sports if they even like sports attendance is down in minor leagues sports almost all traditional late nights certainly don't help either with running the headline classes last don't help it either

There several reasons for the decline in attendance in the stands, and racers.People stay home and get the play by play on the internet, drink their own beer, food, etc.Tired of watching the same high dollars win all the races. The racer cannot afford the high cost to be competitive against others with deep pockets.Racing for the same money you got 15yrs. ago, with racing being double, or triple.the cost.Cheating, favorites, changing rules, not teching when tracks know who's doing this. You may not agree but these are only a few.And AB products are not going to fill the stands at any race track, unless there giving it away.JMO.

I somewhat agree with ya, Rusty. But I will still stand on my comments when someone asks me what the track was like, "The track sucked, I got mud on my car." ;)

Mud is a crutch for lazy race teams. Figure out how to set a car up and be competitive in both mud and slick. 75 % of the fans are there supporting a friend or family member. The diehard fans are hard to come by these days. JMO

I agree to a point I can do either I'm just talking about the guys that might get that one or two wins a year in the mud because of luck or because anyone can go get a pretty good motor those aren't hard to get but information on shocks and setups are top secret from most guys Rick just think if you went a year or two with no success how motivated would you be to keep going I'm just trying to say we used to have a bunch of guys that didn't want to put every spare moment into there program but could compete in the mud because setup wasn't that important those guys and their families and friends are the people in the stands and cars in the pits that aren't there anymore I do respect your opinion just trying to get my point across I remember racing in mud so deep at St.Charles that my car got high centered and I was stuck till the guy behind me ran into me and pushed me forward lol now tracks are so hard that anytime they try to put water on they wait till the last minute and the tracks just slimy what I'm talking about is cutting it deep watering heavy and still having a track cars can maneuver on I'm sure it won't ever happen again unless I hit that lotto

The muddy tracks would also help the low budget teams that have the time but not the money. Kermit must not be playing the Illinois lotery. It sounds like he expects to get payed if he wins. Lol

Lets see every time I-55 is wide open, there are big wrecks and the car count is down the following week, because the racers cant afford to fix the tore up cars, blow motors, just let me know when there going to mud it up il stay home and out of the way lol, one big problem is $$$$$$$$$ across the board people don't have it for 2 or 3 nights of racing a week. my opinion, and really isn't worth any thing .

I'm nobody but this nobody is happy as long as the track varies from week to week. The exact same thing every week would suck. Yea you *might tear some things up going fast but it equalizes the field a bit..you ruin tires the other way so it has it's ups and downs.jmo
